Boom - I have to say the initial premise of this thread is spot on -- ie, if you happen to be an upper tier SEC team, you're ranked in the top 10 or 15 no matter what; if you lose, you only knock down in rankings 5 positions or so (if you are B10, B12, P12, ACC, or god forbid BEast), you go down at least 10 positions or more off a loss and often more.
What it means is this: no matter what happens, SEC has at least 3 teams in the top six or so - no matter how many times they lose to one another, they ALWAYS have at least one team in the championship, and/or at least another 3 in the BCS so they get the $$$.
BTW, ESPN/ABC which has rights to televise most of these games has contractually invested $2B in which conference? The SEC - none other. Do you think they have just a tiny bit of influence in deciding the mysterious factors no one can precisely define that determine BCS rankings? The collusion of financial interest that is so deafeningly silent on all the networks makes a conspiracy theorist of us all ....

First off the BCS has done exactly what it was intended for, pairing the two best teams at the end of the year... as far as the polls being bias... who cares? these polls mean absolutely shit this point in the season. OMG Dude...Alabama's loss was to the #1 team in the country who had beaten everyone on their schedule like a mule including Oregon and WVU (both headed to BCS games that they would eventually win). Oklahoma State lost to a 6 loss Iowa STate team after blowing a 24-0 lead. The rematch was a no brainer and anyone who argues that doesn't know football. You may have WANTED Oklahoma State over Bama but Bama was far and away the better team.
