Cal +2 (medium) and over 53 (XL)

Whats up Covers fam, excited for another year of football! Lets kick things off with a very intriguing week 1 match up with Cal vs UCLA.

There's a lot of unknowns around with this game. Specifically on the Cal side you have a first time HC, first time OC, and first time DC. However, Cal brings back one of the most promising QB's in college football in JKS and have now surrounded him with a lot of great talent.

Meanwhile, UCLA brings in a new HC in Bob Chesney who brought over his entire JMU staff. Lots of continuity here in terms of staff and guys who have been in their position for at least a few years now.

I think Cal has the more talented roster and Memorial Stadium will be sold out and absolutely rocking this game. Every indication is suggesting a close game and I may be a homer here but I have to go with Cal. I believe Cal will be able to move the ball against UCLA as this Cal offense is loaded. UCLA gave up 33 ppg last year and while many things changed, I think they will have a tough time containing this offense.

On the other side of the ball, I think UCLA will unleash Nico Iamaleava's running abilities. Cal starts a brand new defense and I think they may struggle to contain UCLA as well.

Gl Cal.  Like the plays 

At the end of the day, I think Cal will have success moving the ball against UCLA both through the ground and through the air. I also think UCLA will have success moving the ball against Cal on the ground with Nico Iamaleava and Wayne Knight.

This game will likely come down to limiting mistakes. Cal's HC made ball excellence one of the teams core pillars and I trust his coaching as well as JKS more than I trust Nico Iamaleava in this regard. I think Cal wins the turnover margin here.
