This is one of the easier Bowls to get a read on.  You generally find out who really wants to win this game because the weather is so nice and the place is so beautiful it's easy to get distracted if you are in your late teens or early 20's.  Oregon St. has given up.  They played their hearts out and gave everything they had against their rival and was a heartbreaking loss at that, this game means nothing to them.

Don't be fooled by the passing numbers of Mannion or the PPG they put up.  He can't be trusted.  All he does is dink and dunk and has a weak arm which is why he doesn't stretch the field enough.  Last 5 games 7 TD's and 11 INT's.  Mannion will throw for 700 yds today and his team somehow lose.

If you read my write ups you know how I feel about betting to the coach which is the most important thing and motivation a distant second.  But having Peterson not here is the best thing we could have asked for.  Your boss gets fired you will be a much more productive worker for 3 months.  Want your employees to be 30% more efficient paint the walls a different color.  Change always brings more production in any walk of life, forget football.

Thrilled Southwick isn't playing.  Hedrick has played in 12 games this year and will be fine, the offense isn't going to suffer.  Ajayi and Miller will carry this offense against a defense that is comical.  Boise has a bad defense but at least they have showed improvement of late.  OREST can't run, they did put up some big rushing numbers against the Ducks but more of an aberration.  The defense is giving up nearly 200 yds a game against an offense rushing over 200 yds a game.  Oregon St. better not get down because they'll run it down their throat all night and they'll be help less to stop the clock or the chains from moving.

During this losing streak it's now months the last time Oregon State has won and it's so tough to break that kind of streak.  These guys forgot how to win a game.  Nothing smart about betting a 6-6 team laying 3, you are hoping they show up.

Stop with the no QB or coach nonsense which is all I keep reading about.  This is the best scenario a Boise backer could have asked for.  In a location that takes away motivation.  No coach and no starting QB is the perfect storm.  Boise State are winners even when they are in a down year with no defensive athletes.

    The play.....

    Boise ML

By the way Bowling Green is going to take Pitt to the woodshed Thursday.

Don't get crazy this time of year about trying to fade the forum either because it doesn't work.  Bet to the coach is the most important thing.

Anyhow that's it for me everyone, have a safe and happy Christmas.

I haven't posted in 3 years but I had to chime in.  This is one of the most sensible threads I have seen in years.  I am a professional sports handicapper and this is spot on.  I will be placing 10k (small wager) on bsu+3.  thank you 165 for your insight.

Train I never said he got fired.

I said if your boss got fired.

The point was the boss or the person who runs things isn't there.

Happy and safe holidays to you and yours.

11Spread11 I never should have typed that about Bowling Green.  I have not bet it and will have to take a bit more time to study and read up on it. As of now it's a no play.  If I do bet it I will have a write up on the game.

1pumpchump , chargerfan has nothing to prove to you or anyone else.  What would be the point?

Boise guys Pissing off a Balcony doesn't sound like a team taking things seriously, there was more than one guy involved obviously. Other than than that very nice write up. Best of luck.

well I would have to write a book to give you all of my insight.  I usually don't post my plays because it's tough finding the time.  I enjoyed 165's post because it involves psychology and perception.  And clearly perception is much different than reality.  Theres a reason why ugly guys get hot chicks.

No coach with a backup qb but the line hasn't changed at all since it opened.  Vegas doesn't respect Oregon State at all.  People talk about fishy lines etc but who cares.  Let a line be fishy. You must distinguish the perception from the reality.  If you can do this you will come out ahead.  I have been doing this since 1993. Don't fade the public, don't fade your friend, fade the perception....

That was my first thought. It doesn't sound like a business trip to me when your coach isn't there and your pissing off balconies. I'm sure Oregon St. is doing the same things. It's Hawaii. That's what you do when you go there. That's why that almost year after year it's the most unpredictable bowl of all.

well i guess its a helluva motivation , to know, the coach that take ur program to unthinkable heights, just dropped u because he could forsee the sinking ship in a mediocre conference in wich boise has become, and i dont blame petersen, he es a great recruiter and made great things with tight budget, but last season and this season we all could see where boise was heading, yeah orst hasnt won as of late, but they are the better coached, wih the better qb and receiving corps, and, i know they struggle on stopping the running game, but, boise running game is average at most, orst,  will be prepared for that, boise st rushing attak doesnt even compare with stanford, oregon, washington

Charger Fan: finally I see someone else with what I have said for a long time in regards to public perception. Analyze the games and line movement and the perception of the teams involved. I have done very well using this method as well. Best of luck.

I am not in love with either side here.  I agree that losing the QB isn't a huge deal.  But I would definitely want the 5th year senior starting his last bowl game if I had a choice.

I see where you would say that Boise has something to play for, to prove they can win without their coach.  However, to say that OSU blew their load on the Oregon game and have nothing to play for is just silly.  I would say that Boise has more motivation, but OSU has seniors, a team trying to snap a losing streak, and when you go into a game, you go to win.  No one from Oregon State is limping into this game saying "I'm not playing hard today as I have nothing to play for."

I will disagree with the fact that if your boss got fired you'd work harder.  99% of the working force in america loves the days when their boss is absent.  They usually take it easier, and go lax on the things that boss used to be up their butt about.  Boise has already hired a coach, its not like any of these assistance are trying to earn the HC job (a la Bill Stewart).

I really could see this game going either way.  You gotta love taking points, but I don't think this one is going to be EASY or a gift.  They aren't Oregon or Standford, I could see the Beavers winning today.

It is amazing to me how many people are on Oregon St.  I mean, your backing a team that is on a 5 game losing streek and has looked downright horrible.

Again, everyone is talking about the QB, what about him.  He's been the QB.  Not much changed.  I don't think the coach change will make one bit of difference.  Boise St is proven in bowl games and in the later part of the year with some great ATS records.  Seems like an easy play to me (nothing is easy) Boise St +3

    shark,

I wasn't choosing a side based on what 165 said.  I was simply complimenting his angle.  A true sports handicapper spends 20% of his time making 80% of his profits, not the other way around.  Judging the number of posts you have contributed (value may be questionable) we know where you stand.  Garbage in garbage out.
