I like Nebraska -17.5 is getting more in line with reasonable.  It opened at -12.5 in March...I still think Nebraska will cover, but a little less certain now....

Does Marshall +21 sound alright? Last year these two met in the opener, and Marshall fell to WVA 13-34, EXACTLY 21 points! I think they got better in HC Doc Holliday's 2nd season, going from 5 to 7 wins and a bowl win (Beef O'Brady Bowl) over FIU 20-10. Holliday's talent is up this year and the bar has been raised slightly, they return 8 starters on offense including QB Cato and 5 starters on D- I think they can at least keep it to within the 3 touchdown margin, I'm going to probably bet this game.

Last 5 years, WVU is 1-3-1 ATS against Marshall...the spreads were 07 -25 won by 25, 08 -14 won by 24, 09 -20.5 won by 17, 10 -12 won by 3, and 11 -23.5 won by 21...

Granted, this is now D. Holgorsen, they have a good QB and WR's, but this is a rivaly game at Morgantown...

I think WVU can cover, but I am staying away from this game...gl

all my 5 dimes money is pending 

but I still LOVE Nebraska ... got it at -13...NOW people will pass bc it is up to -17.5 ... but they will still miss out since i feel they will win going away by 23+...


also like Colorado -6... PAC12  is brutal and Buffs will run it up in one of their few chances at a BIG W

They never even played the full game against Marshall last year due to weather.

be careful- I'm sure public opinion will be just that- just means they are overvalued to start the year

This team still lost to Syracuse and gave up like 35 to Louisville

WVU was up by 21 early in the 4th when the game was called due to lightning... if the game had been played out, WV would have won by at least 28, and possibly 35...

-West Virginia had just scored about 20 seconds into 4th Q and they called the game
-Stacked Offense this year. 2nd Year in System.
-Dana H in his second year. 
-They have Keith Patterson and Joe Deforest who was a pretty good D coach at Pitt (35th or so in total defense, good Rush D)
-Deforest had 10 years at OK ST and they have improved tremendously over that time (seriously from none to above average)

WV:
-Someone listed the same things I would above or in another thread. Decent head coach. Decent talent.
-Rivalry game that Marshall really seems to get up for


My take
-I'll probably be laying off this game because it could be close but a few missed tackles by Marshall and this could be a huge blowout. 
-I'd be leaning West Virginia as I think the 2nd Year in the Offensive System. Geno Smith. 3 really good receivers and Marshall just won't keep up.

I also like Michigan St. but am hoping the # goes to -7 or less.  Love what Dantonio is doing in East Lansing.  Their defense will be tough and L. Bell is a load to bring down.  Boise returns 2 starters on defense and they don't reload with 4 and 5 star recruits.  Peterson is a great coach but they'd be better off playing some cupcakes before venturing to East Lansing.  So, Boise backers keep hammering Boise

I like Mich State too, and they are going to be out there -6 in some books. They have the best D in the Big10, a solid O-Line and RB's. They did lose QB Kirk Cousins to the Redskins in the NFL draft (as a 4th round pick, it makes you wonder - could Cousins one day be the starter???) and they lose 4 WR's but they have good replacements at both positions. I think the Spartans win and cover and return to the Big 10 title game this year. As for Boise they only have 7 starters back, losing 6 NFL draft choices, 2 in the first round, and the all time winningest QB Kellen Moore. Peterson should get another 10 win season but it's going to be on the back of a loss in East Lansing. Michigan State -6 or -7 is a bet for me.

W Virginia?.......sure they might win 70-28.....but

* improved yes.....but struggled vs fairly weak Big East
giving up 29 pts/game....(last in Big East)....got it done...but fairly lucky too.....extra prep for bowl helped no doubt....but fairly gutless performance by Clemson...so tough to tell...now they lose their play-makers on D....and transitioning from wacky 3-3-5 to a multiple front D....

Marshall might be better than what we think.....
true Fr Cato finished strong.....after starting with
@WV > SMiss (Marshall won) > @ Ohio > Hokies > @ Louisville (Marshall won)  >@ UCF....

so watchout here....value appears to be clearly with Marshall....although if you wanna bet on Geno week 1 vs a suspect pass D...maybe not a bad idea

fade Boise?......

Agree... I can totally see both sides of the Marshall @ W. Virginia bet. Probably staying out...

I'll probably fade Boise AT Michigan St.
Although depending on the ##, I might just roll with the under. I love the OLine/Running Back/ Defense of Michigan St. vs Boise's reload which is basically a new team on the field. 

I think it will be close but Michigan will cover in a low scoring game.

i love marshal +21,

i have locked in at +22 in april, and hope the line holds firm at 21, or less.


i think marshal keeps this game close, as I personally believe that Wva will be focused on the new conference and not marshal.

i will write up more as it gets closer, but at this point marshal +22 is my play, but i would play on 21 as well.
