Duke opened as -2.5 favorites at home vs the Wolfpack. Line moved to -3, and now I see that 3 juiced and heading to 3.5.
Who's betting on Duke here and why?
One thing to note for this game is that starting DE Sebastian Harsh is out for the 1H for NC State because he was flagged for targeting vs Wake Forest in the 4th quarter. How good is he, and how important is that for just one half?
The game will be a short bus ride for NC State, 20 miles or so.
Duke beat NC State last year 29-19 in the Wolfpack's house. You'd think some revenge would be in order.
Looking at rankings, sos, stats n such, you'd think this line would open NC st -2 or so, if not stronger.
I was on Tulane last week, as there's not much from Duke I've seen to merit confidence to back em. The box score might look like a closer game than it was. If you ask me the Green Wave handled them fairly easily. Duke couldn't handle their run attack where they used creative formations with 3 RB's at times, with a qb who can tuck and run with them.
Just wanting to see what you guys think. Normally this is a spot where I'd take Duke on a shady line. And surely(educated guess) the public will be all over the Wolfpack here.
I really don't want to bet on Duke. It's NC State or no bet. Don't want to get suckered either.

Yes....for some reason people think duke is good, they have taken the money last 2 weeks and did not cover, so why is Duke favored? Maybe NC st not good on road? Lines are based on public perception and to get even money on both sides.....I'd have to look. Into. This

I should also mention that Duke's qb Darian Mensah played for Tulane last year. He transferred to Duke. So last week's game must of been nerve racking for him. Not to mention a staff that knew him well.
Did play worse than capable of?

I thought it was odd also. I had NCST as a 2 point favorite. People have been betting duke consistently for a couple weeks. I played them against Illinois as a home dog when they should have won and ended up getting blown out on dumb mistakes.
I couldnt do it vs Tulane and in my eyes Duke was a trendy dog pick to bounce back, they were a top play in A LOT of threads on here. Now I'm puzzled by this line. Getting the hook w NCST seems like a good play. Are the books trying to sucker us? Maybe. But how many times have you looked at a line like this and thought that, stayed away, and you were right the whole time? Maybe people are just irrationally still excited about betting Duke. NCST seems like a good team to me. They were down late vs Wake and still covered.
All that being said, I dont know if I can bet it.

Good post Sac ...you might be onto to something here and this one falls into the category of grab later in the week as intel comes out
For the record ...updated SP+ after week #3 has:
Duke OFF = 74th DEF = 62nd > regression from 61st/ 34th before Week #1
NCST OFF = 40th DEF = 65th > regression too but not as bad? 34th / 55th
Proving is hard. Talk is easy.

NC State struggled with Wake the entire game. Wake Forest is a really bad team with no QB and only beat Kennesaw State by one point, 10 to 9, in week one. I think people are probably thinking NC State is not much better.
i love Duke here.
