obviously don't know jack shitt, cuz not one of you criticized rich rod for spiking the ball to stop the clock on 1st and goal in 4 down territory.

I had alot of props so didnt care one way or other but I thought he played a decent game, they shouldnt have gone down 21 points .I wasnt real impressed with either team really,

a fade from the 8 yard line, short side of the field takes 4 sec max.  you're not taking a 5 step drop and throwing a 50 yard takeoff.  you don't give up 25% of your chances to score.  if there was minimal time left in the clock where you might not get 4 tries at it I understand clocking it.  for god sake, he got sacked on 3rd down after running around and there was still 4 sec left.  they had plenty of time to throw the fade on first. 

I think it was the right play, Zona QB was already tired prior to throwing the long pass and the wideouts ran down the field so many times they were tired too.. with no timeouts they needed to get things together.. they were lucky to get 3 more shots at the TD, unfortunately a young QB makes a huge mistake and does not get rid of the ball..

 

One more thing, when you're tired playing sports ie an extra long shift in hockey or what ever the sport is you are prone to making mental mistakes.. RichRod made the right call, his QB did not..

 

This game was lost in the 1H as they were not ready defensively for the Broncos

they were out of time outs and had to spike it...spiking it was definitely the right move rather than let the clock run down...and they then had three plays to score!!!.......you are one HUGE IDIOT  if you don't understand that!!!!....

Look, the OP is actually correct on this one in one sense. You do NOT waste a down with a dumb spike. A fade, or quick slant to the endzone, even with a quick call at the line of scrimmage, takes anywhere between 3 to 7 seconds longer than a spike. So you do NOT waste a down there unless you're under 15 seconds in the game or your team is gassed after 3 successful plays in a row.

Having said that, most teams do spike that ball, with great coaches and good coaches and bad coaches. And that QB for Arizona was awful today, including in that awful decision to hold the ball and run the clock out. Even a freshman should have better sense. So the criticism is warranted. I stuck up for Solomon in another thread, but he really was bad today. Missed a ton of open receivers. Bad decisions. Very few big plays.
