Despite their number one seed, I am not impressed with Pitt.  Villanova is playing extremely well right now, while Pitt is playing like garbage.  Having said that, Nova will whoop Pitt by 6 - 7pts.

With just 1 game between them, I'm leaning Villanova and the under of 142. Villanova will find a way to win or either hold on to a small lead at the end.

Just something to think about...in a game of basketball team offense can be inconsistant, someday a team can shoot well someday a team can shoot poor. example cuse vs. sooners...in the other hand team defense can be consistant, there is no excuse for not showing up and just play defense, example Michst vs Kansas.  I dont care how well nova played against Duke.  Pitt is not Duke. With this theory I like Pitt having a better defense but Nova having a better offense.  At the end Pitt win...you tell me if Pitt cover.

When WVU beat Nova by 21 points I all but wrote this team off, then George Town beat'em, bad went to worse, then came the 14 point loss to Louisville. Been hot ever since !  When does this hot shooting streak of Nova's end?   I still am leaning toward them.  Pitt has been struggling on offense but that good D in always there !  The UNDER is looking better all the time.

I like Villanova.

I really do.

They looked incredible against UCLA, and then they looked incredible against Duke.

In fact at times, they've looked like the best team in this tournament.

I realize - fully - that Pittsburgh isn't UCLA or Duke.  Pittsburgh is way better.

And I realize that to some degree, you have to throw out the way they've squeezed by those lower seeds to get here.  Because we all know they still have 3 bad ass playmakers and the baddest man in the tournament down low.  And in the end, margin of victory can be overrated.

But it doesn't hurt - if you like Nova - that Pittsburgh hasn't looked so great, and that Villanova beat them earlier this season.

But  . . . .  to me anyway, Villanova just has that LOOK.  That buzzsaw look of a team, that really wants to win, and is firing all cylinders.

Scoring from inside out, driving to the basket, knocking down the 3's, getting ALL OVER the boards and again, a desire that Pittsburgh just hasn't shown thus far.

So I like Villanova today.

And I'm staying away from UCONN / Mizzou.

I'm going to have to lean Villinova... trend and momentum is on their side. Pitts mis-firing and ready to fall.

Both games today this one and Conn vs Mizzou will define gambling.

I bet the books love the match-ups as anyone can win and a lot of cappers are split 50 50. WNCAAB Louisville will beat Baylor... perhaps that's my play today.

Are you serious??? Have you watched either of these teams play lately?  Nova held duke to 1 field goal in the last 7 minutes of their game and forced 4 shot clock violations...three of which were in a row! 
 
On the other hand, Pitt has been pethetic on the defensive glass, allowing Tennessee STATE 20 offensive boards and do you remember them giving up 49 first half pts to Ok st? Yes, they clamped down in the second half, but 49 pts in a half? Next time you post something- do us all a favor and do your homework!
If you wanna base you decision off of the defense..You'd take Nova....
 
I'm taking the Defense that held Duke to 26% from the Field
 
*If you watched Pitts last game- you might have noticed the refs were letting them get physical down low, which is very unusual in tourney play.  I'm pretty sure I even saw Blair thanking the ref for not calling a foul at one point.  Bottom line, I anticipate the refs being wissle happy today, which is a huge disadvantage for pitt and Blair.  Last time these teams played, Blair only played 23 mins becasue of foul trouble...Hence they lost by 10...Watch for this to play a role yet again.

Judging by the eye test Nova has to be the pick here. Pitt has played all there games half-assed and have gotten away with it. They will not be able to do this tonight. Either the #1 seed shows up tonight on Nova is in the Final Four.

I'm stuck on this one...Villanova is playing really well right now and beat Pitt earlier this year...I'm just not sure, off of who is hot right now I think I would have to take Villanova +2

I'll dance with the girl that took me here and keep riding Nova.  They've looked outstanding in the tournament and Pitt has yet to cover.

Pitt -2. I'll take the better defensive team that held Xavier to 18 points in the second half last game. Should be a great game.

exactly, duke was shooting lights out before they lost to nova and everything was pointing to duke, now its just flipfloped on nova

Staying eastern PA here and taking the Wildcats.  They beat Pitt earlier in the year at the Wach and did it pretty convincingly.  Pitt has struggled all tourney in each game.  Now I know Nova was shell shocked in round 1, but after that first half, shit.  They have done no wrong here.  Like the ML play and some nylon in Jay Wright's hands tonight.  Partyin on main line baby!!

there's no way pitt loses again to nova.  here's why.....
 
1.  pitt playing with revenge.
 
2.  d. blair will not be in foul trouble in this game (unlike the last meeting) and nova has no one who can play with blair.
 
3.  after an earlier loss this season, pitt is definitely out for revenge and there's no better stage for that than this one. 
 
4.  this game is not in philly so there's no home court advantage for nova.
 
5.  revenge factor is HUGE!
 
6.  pitt is head and shoulders better than ucla and duke.
 
7.  did i mention revenge.

You ever realize when you put scores down you ALWAYS have the team you pick cover by 1 or .5 points.  Just like today's post, you chose Nova and low and behold you have them covering by .5 a point.

I respect your longevity on these posts but this trend has to stop for anyone to take your picks seriously.  Having said all that I will be fading you as usual.

PITT is the most balanced team in the tournament, good guard play, decent inside and they can play defense.
I respect Nova and Scottie Reynolds but this PITT team is too much for them to handle in the tournament.

According to the local news report here in the 'burgh- Pitt is going to play a 3-2 zone in order to keep blair out of foul trouble.  They haven't played zone all year...I'd rather go with the team that is playing THEIR game and not changing a thing-
