Thanks moron.  Considering Arkansas would beat Tennessee in Fayetteville, I hardly think it's much of a stretch.

And, as I've stated already (but I'm sure you're too impatient to read the entire thread), this is all relative to expectations.  Arkansas making the Sweet 16 as a 7 seed is just as impressive as Tennessee making the Final Four as a 1 seed.

Vandy was 1 play away from an elite 8 last year. Same team returning with a big man.

Derrick Byars was a far bigger loss than you are acknowledging.  I would take Byars over Ogilvy any day of the week.
 
They also benefited from playing a Wazzu team who they matched up with really well last year...

South Alabama.... No question about it. They are out of the Top 25 but should be in. They will be in the Sweet 16 this year in my opinion.

All they need is a birth and they are one of the most dangerous teams in the tourny. Hewitt is a great coach and he has this team beleiving and playing great ball. They actually play better on the road. Would love to see them get in their.

IMO i believe marquette is definitely a pretender....this team is so damn inconsistent and they have to get hot from the outside in order to have even a shot to hang with the big boys....i don't see them being much of a threat in the big dance.....i do see pitt though doing good things if they get a decent drawing.....they have been playing tough w/out fields, and he is definitely their leader...when he comes back i see this team being a very tough out in the tourney

MSU is a big time pretender right now. But there is talk that Lucas might start for State and they might use Neitzel off the bench until he wakers the fuck up. He has been a huge disappointment. Also has been talk of moving him back to the point. Lucas has been awesome and State has to get him the game more. If Neitzel wakes up State will be dangerous in March...if not they are 1 and done

Pretenders:

Any team in the Big 10 or SEC not named Tennessee , they just don't have total packages like some of the better teams in the country.  I will give the advantage to Wisonsin, at some point the media/public has got to recognize how good of a coach Bo Ryan really is with what he has been able to do without any legit NBA prospects.

Marquette, Connecticut, Vandy, K state, Notre Dame, Texas, Tx a&m, : too sporadic

Contenders:

Dook: Pains me to say, but the way they go on 10-0 runs to put a close game away is rivaled only by Tennessee or Memphis.

Memphis: they win, and Derrick Rose may be the player to push this team to the title game

Tennessee: they really are simply kicking the living piss out of every opponent right now (even with the close LSU game), how are they not a contender

UCLA: Ben Howland knows how to coach big games and they have great players at every position and great role players

Georgetown: they have the total package, but can they play tough enough on the boards to win 6 games in a row

Kansas: can beat anybody, any day if they play well enough, question is will they?


UNC, just because they dont play any defense doesnt mean they cant outscore everyone 6 games in a row

Close to bottom or Not in top 25 legit threats to outperfom:

Louisville, Maryland, Pitt, Stanford
