    1st play is:

Fordham +8 for 20 units... Talk about a game the books have got to be going crazy over in relation to setting a correct number for the betting public. These 2 teams have covered just 1 time in 8 attempt's so far this season as books are currently struggling on setting number's in these 2 teams games. The market was not in favor of Fordham last season as they finished last year with a 5-16ats record while going a horrific 1-10su on the road. Fordham has actually created quite the fade meter for the recreational bettors of the world as they are 2-40su on the road since the start of the 07-08 season. Don't let those number's fool you too much as last season was expected to have growing pains as Fordham brought in a new head coach in Tom Pecora who was the head coach at Hofstra University for 9 years where he averaged 19 wins per season while there (2001-2010). Pecora took over this Forham team that was coming off of just a 2 win season the year before while failing to win one game on the road that season at 0-15. Fordham won 7 games last season overall which was actually an improvement on that horrific 2 win season and they have already notched 3 wins this season as his recruits are now getting some action out their to mesh with top scorer and top re-bounder from the last 2 seasons in Chris Gaston. Gaston is a forward who has averaged 11 rebounds per game in his first two years. This year he has 16 blocks already (2bpg) along with 9.3rpg while scoring 14.4ppg. I like the mixture that Pecora has with 2 seniors getting decent minutes from Alberto Estwick a guard averaging 21mpg & Kevin Bristol a nearly 7 footer center averaging 21mpg along with the 2 freshman talent's that Pecora brought in Byran Smith pg averaging 33mpg & Devon McMillan goard averaging 25mpg. 2nd year swing man Marvin Dominique (Another Pecora recruit) is a 6 foot 7 inch guard/forward who is starting to fit in more and more with each game out on the court. The bottom line here is, time is setting in for Tom Pecora, and in his 2nd year at Fordham they are in a great spot tonight as they head just 140 mile's north to take on a Siena  team who is in the midst of trying to figure out life without their top 2 players from last season in Ryan Rossiter & Clarence Jackson as those two accounted for 33.4ppg, 16.3rpg. To make matters worse the Saints are currently operating without their 3rd leading scorer from last season's team in Rakeem Brookins (out for the season with a back injury). Brookins was their point guard last season and leader in assists as he had 119 of them while averaging 9ppg. With the Saints on the decline and only having 3 wins this far over teams that have compiled just an 9-20 record i'm not sure this team is ready to handle covering the chalk of this magnitude. It's no secret that both of these teams will struggle for the most part of this season but I like the direction that Fordham is going in and I value the 8 point's in a game as the books continue to struggle on getting either one of these teams right number wise thus far. I have to believe they are wrong again and in the process we have an inflated number. I wouldn't be shocked to see a Fordham win tonight at the Times Union Center in New York...POD

You can trust Fordham keeping it within 8 when they lost to Monmouth and Loyola-IL by 15 and 14 respectively? Away to boot? Siena played UMass tough, getting used to playing without Brookins, and Anosike, Siena's main inside presence, has a double-double in 5 straight I believe. Also playing much better with Wignot back from injury early in the season.

I understand that Siena is not that strong, but Fordham is worse. a 34 pt loss @ Manhattan? Does not instill confidence in me for Fordham whatsoever.

    D. McMillan: .8 A/TO ratio. reflects the entire team's A/TO number basically. As a team, Fordham shoots: 37% FG, 55% FT, 23% 3P%

    E. Hymes: 1.2 A/TO ratio (not much difference between starting guards), basically same team A/TO ratio (Siena slightly better). As a team, Siena shoots: 41% FG, 66% FT, 30% 3P%...

Siena with slightly better numbers, home court advantage, a bit of momentum as opposed to Fordham's struggles on the road, consecutive double digit losses, game played only 2 days ago (12/10)...leads me to lean Siena!

Just giving some info for the other side. GL whatever you play!

The Loyola-Chicago win will look better as the season goes on. The Ramblers have 7 losses to teams that have compiled a record of 45-19 thus far as some of their notable losses came against Illinois, Kansas st & Wisc-Milwaukee. The Ramblers also impressed many this week with a comeback win on the road in Toledo. So there is more than an argument to be made for them. Same thing goes for the Hawks as they have lost to teams that have compiled a record of 45-34 so far with only one loss coming to a losing team (St Francis PA). Also in relation to many thinking that Siena played Umass tough this is what I wrote in another thread below...

What many are failing to realize in relation to Siena looking good vs Umass is that Umass is one of the fastest teams up and down the court in the Nation. Umass jacked up 74 shots in that game as they only shot 41% while Siena shot 47% and lost. Siena only looked good to many because they were able to get great looks off of many transition shots missed by Umass. Any one who understands basketball knows that good looks come for the opposing team off of transition misses. When you miss 43 shots in a basketball game of just 40 minutes, that's a lot of opportunity for the opposition to take advantage of. The bottom line is that Siena no longer has their top 3 scorers from last season's team in Rossiter, Jackson & Brookins as 2 of them graduated and Brookins is out for the season. Siena is a bad basketball team that has just 3 wins vs opponents who have just a 9-20 record vs their opponents. The betting public probably needs a bit longer to compute all this though. Just saying.... BOL

Both guard play on both Siena and Fordham are something of a ugly nature with the Saints guards scaring me a lot more than the Rams guards. I'm sure many will be on Siena and the under as those seem to be the sexy picks to most recreational bettors tomarrow. I'm just not seeing how this Siena squad can be laying this kind of chalk this early in the season when they have so much to prove...BOL

I'm looking hard into one play involving the Siena/Forham game. Be back shortly as I finalize this play. BOL..

What's your unit size?  Is it $1?  Because you are up so many units cause you bet like over 20 units a game?  Why don't you just multiply your units by 5 and make it 100 units a game?  That way your units look way better than it seems.  I know people say that your unit size is up to you, but when you post your units as over +200 for the season, it looks better than what it is, as to betting 1 to 5 units a game and +200 units for the year would be impressive, but not when you are betting 20 to 50 units a game.  Just sayin.....

At first his unit amounts threw me as well. I also thought, well why doesn't he just lower his unit number and raise the $ amount of his units.

However, the more I thought about it the more that IS NOT THE SAME THING.  For instance, if he makes several plays each day for 1-5 units, but then prefers to play 20 units on his POD, that is certainly within the betting system of many good handicappers.  Of course most keep their plays between 1-5 units and simply raise the amount per unit, but if he's had outstanding success and prefers to think of his best picks as huge plays compared to everything else, that is his prerogative.  ESPECIALLY WITH HIS PERCENTAGE OF WINNERS ON HIS POD PICKS.

Who cares what his units are? Does it matter my max bet is 200 I consider this 4 units so 4 of my units equal 20 of his his 10 unit bets are 2 units for me. His ints could be $1 or $1000 it's all resolving to your bet limits.

Who the fuck cares!!!  Odds has been around a long time and is a well respected capper here, who the fuck are you to question his units?  No one has ever questioned him, his record, or his record, why do you feel the need to question his units?

Maybe his unit is $10, that is what he is comfortable with, what does it matter?

The dude is 18-4-1 over the past week and you want to question is units, come on man!

21 MPG out of a 7 footer? That pretty economical.

The stats are VERY one sided towards Siena, might be too many points though. Thanks for the write up, BOL.

    Hey Oddsbuster,

Fordham's shooting only 56% from the free throw line. Maybe they'll improve tonight but the first rule for me is never to bet a team that shoots under 65% at the charity stripe unless their opponent is equally as poor at free throw shooting. Those one point misses add up.

Siena is only allowing 12 free throw attempts per game so this is a good thing. Keep those Rams off the line. Also it looks like the Saints just made your system by the 0.9% as they shoot just 65.9% from the charity stripe. The laying chalk here just makes me want to cringe...

I can't believe someone comes in here complaining about the size of your bets. OB provides a free service that is profitable, and has great insight and knowledge of the game. His record speaks for itself.

Traditionally a unit is a percentage 2-5% of your bankroll, depending on what the bettor decides to set. This is a good money management system so that if you ever go cold it is nearly impossible not to bounce back. And unit size is dynamic, so it changes with the size of your bankroll, so unit sizes go down when you lose, and up when you win.

However, many bettors like to use a standard unit size of 100 or 1000. I would guess that OB's unit size is 100, which keeps it very easy to keep track of your winnings, or losings, just by looking at your record. (10 unit play = 1000, 20unit play = 2000 and so on....)

If you don't want to bet 5, 10, or 20 of your personal unit size then don't.

    If he posts a 5 unit play, play 5/10 = .5 unit
    If he posts a 10 unit play, play 10/10 = 1 unit
    If he posts a 20 unit play, play 20/10 = 2 unit

If you use this system above you would still be up almost 18 units on the college basketball season already. Don't try to bash OB for his wager sizes, or amount of units laid, just take the information he provides and wager what you are comfortable with and what your bankroll allows. Again, it's smart to set your unit size as 2-5% of your bankroll, then play 1-3 units tops, and remember your units are dynamic with your bankroll.

    BOL

Thanks Odds for everything you are doing, keep up the good work

Thanks Odds for everything you are doing, keep up the good work
