    @fubah2

     I gotta ask. What do you think Iowa’s chances are against an undefeated South Carolina women’s team who just won by 19? It’s shaping up to be a real David vs Goliath type storyline.

    Have a look at the early line on S.Carolina for Sunday's game  bigsmile

    @TheBigC23

     peace_5 Well, imo,  Lady Gamecocks are the better team on paper, for sure.  Not by a whole lot mind you!  But they are the better team.  Effective inside, outside and defense. Probably hold the edges both inside and defensively, while Lady Hawkeyes should have the edge from the arc -- which is a big deal, since reliable 3's beats reliable 2's inside every day!

    IOWA had a piss poor shooting effort vs UCONN, including Clark!  They average 11 3's a game, although against the best team in the nation I suspect we should trim those expectations a little.  Even so, I am expecting a better shooting effort (law of averages at play)  However inside 6'7" Cardoso is a monster to guard.  She'll rack'em up once again and defensively she presents Iowa a challenge they didn't face against LSU or UCONN. Once the get her the ball in the low-post she scores a very high percentage AND DRAWS FOULS!  Iowa has only one starter over 6'0 guard Caitlin and that's 6'2" Stuelke.

    SC will start 6'7" Cardoso and 6'3"  Watkins and both are GOOD!  But they have a 6'3" Feagin and a 6'2" Kitts - both of whom do rotate in and can hold their own defensively at least to give Cardoso and Watkins a breather.

    IOWA can only counter with Stuelke (6'2") Also GOOD!!, but it's just her, and if she gets in foul trouble against THAT lineup, they will put in O'Grady but she's no force to be reckoned with, so it's over for IOWA almost for certain. They will be forced to rely too heavily on CLARK and perimeter shooting  - and SC has a terrific defense!  Gamecocks are undefeated and #1 for a reason!!

    Yes, Caitlin and Iowa are like the feel good story of the tourny,

    ...but SC is the better team - with a stronger bench! - and the fav line is right smack dab where it should be, imho.

    If IOWA wins it would be an upset for sure.  But it *could* happen *IF* their 3's are hitting at a high rate - say 45% on high volume --- and their lone center Stuelke has another GREAT game like she did vs UCONN. Clark will definitely rebound from a substandard performance! But it's the others from the arc that could be a concern.  IOWA knows they escaped with a close win.  I expect their mindset to be more determioned and more intense....should be in better shape for this challenge and commit far fewer turnovers  -- and if their 3's are hitting, look out SC!  But fouls (or injuries) can flip a game so as usual I am going to "wait-n-see" and look for an ingame opp on either side....

    I have no leans on the final Sunday, but if SC gets down real early and the line changes to give SC points, I'll likely grab those and maybe look for a shot at a middle later...

    How about your thoughts on it? an_2drinks

    I have Minnesota rated significantly higher  but it's a road game for Minnesota and a HOME GAME for St.Louis.

    Homecourt Billikens have won their recent 3 games which were all on the road but each decided in the final 30 ticks (close!) and all 3 rated weaker than Minnesota.  On homecourt they don't seem to have any edges over teams as good as or better than they are, and as such Minnesota will represent the highest rated team they've faced since losing to Richmond and St.Joes in JANUARY - both on St..Louis homecourt and 11+ pts each....

    LADY GOPHERS were -4.5 pre-game ROAD favs...

    Mid 2Q and homecourt Billikens have a solid 8 point lead over Gophers....they are now favs of -4.5.......Getting ready to pull the trigger on LADY GOPHERS getting points as the better team....

    St.Louis has outscored them 10 times vs only 6 times, and have a slight edge off the glass but otherwise the metrics are even, and typically the better team experiencing a dip in shooting WILL bounceback!

    Better team (Minnesota) getting blown out by St.Louis.  These things happen of course.  Why?  Because LADY Gophers shooting stats:

    floor?  awful 28% an_speechless

    3's?  just 3 for 19 surprised

    FTs?  3 for 9  an_getaway

    ....and 6 more turnovers an_brick

    Meanwhile, St.Louis is shooting waaaaaaaaaaaaaay above their usual averages!

    Just a dreadful "one off" game for Minnesota and they picked a helluva time for it.  Fortunately, I passed on any pre-game bet, instead following my "wait-n-see" strategy when I figure it could be a coin-flipper, ultimately never seeing a good opp to take Minnesota........and glad I held off......Gophers being routed by a weaker team in the NIT final....

    Congrats to LADY Billikens  an_clap

    That is NOT a *Best Bet (POD)..... I like the lower risk now on a pregame -10.5 heavy fav......but truth is I'm taking a risk here on may well be very close....However, I almost always go with the better team and UCONN is......although anything can happen, including unexpected foul trouble and/or injuries to cause an upset

    Huge early lead for HAWKEYES....they look great, but I still think game will be very close...

    As stated in another thread, if SC gets down and the line gives them points I will grab them and look for a possible middle later....

    Mid-1Q  20 - 9.... LIVE BET: SC +3.5 -125

    IOWA 27 - 20 after 1Q.  STILL LOOKS LIKE IT'S GONNA BE CLOSE!!!!

    No real foul issues yet.....but if SC gets into foul issues in the 2Q, it's not as big a deal as they have a strong bench!  IOWA needs to be careful!
