F1 Miami Grand Prix 2025 post-qualifying picks

Race prediction: Lando Norris to win (+150 at bet365)

Max Verstappen has captured the pole in back-to-back qualifying sessions at the Miami International Autodrome, but he’s hoping for a better result than last year, when Lando Norris ended his two-race win streak on this track.

That’s part of the reason Norris is the betting favorite to capture his second straight checkered flag in Miami.

Norris will tell you that it’s his own fault he isn’t at the front of the grid Sunday, as taking too much kerb on his lap cost him the six-hundredths of a second needed to pass Verstappen.

Does that mean he’s got the fastest car? Perhaps, as McLaren has been at the top of the race charts with both drivers, while Verstappen has had moments of success — and others where it’s his driving, not the car, that is earning results.

Still, Norris has fond memories in Miami — it’s the circuit that landed him his first career victory. With what appears to be the superior vehicle, look for him to find his way past his Red Bull rival for the win.

Best bet: Kimi Antonelli podium finish (+110 at bet365)

Does this become a three-person race, with Norris, Verstappen, and newly minted points leader Oscar Piastri duking it out for the checkered flag?

Well, the plus odds and continued ascension of Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli make it worth taking a flier on the rookie landing his first podium in 2025.

His closest result to the Top 3 was a fourth-place finish in Australia to kick off the season, but since then, he’s placed sixth three times — including a season-worst 11th in Bahrain.

Miami brings new hope, though, as Antonelli cruised to the three spot in qualifying with a lap time of 1:26.271.

His ride is plenty fast enough to keep him near the front of the pack, and if the young Italian can keep his composure among F1’s elite, it could be Antonelli's first podium finish.

F1 Miami Grand Prix 2025 pre-qualifying favorites

Max Verstappen's time atop the F1 hierarchy was legendary and, ultimately, short-lived. He won four consecutive driver's championships from 2021-24 and was virtually unbeatable in 2022 and 2023.

The cracks started to show in 2024 and with only one race win under his belt in 2025, a changing of the guard is officially in place.

So, why spill this much digital ink on the third name on the odds board? Well, the Miami Grand Prix is kind of where we got our first hint that he may be in trouble a year ago.

While he would go on to win three of the following four races, he fell to Lando Norris (this year's co-favorite) in Miami, a race he had won in each of its first two editions. Verstappen cruised through qualifying, entered the race in the pole position, and simply couldn't close the deal, losing by more than seven seconds.

And bookmakers aren't buying a resurgence in South Florida this weekend, as Norris and McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri are both +137 to win at midweek.

Piastri's recent form is what has him catapulted to favorite status, as he hasn't fared well in the Miami GP, finishing in 13th a year ago despite starting from the sixth position. The year before, he was 19th.

Still, Piastri is in a different class in 2025, earning more checkered flags through five races (three) than he had in his career (two) before this year.

Understanding F1 betting odds

The most popular way to bet on Formula 1 odds is by simply picking the winner of a particular race. Other popular F1 betting options include which car/constructor will win and whether or not a particular race car driver will end up on the podium with a Top-3 finish.

F1 race odds usually look like this:

  • Charles Leclerc +400

This means that on a $100 bet, you'll stand to profit $400 if Leclerc wins that particular race. If one driver is especially dominant, you might see a minus sign (-) ahead of that driver's odds like this:

  • Max Verstappen -120

This means that you would need to bet $120 to win $100 on Verstappen winning the race.
