Jaron Ennis makes his super welterweight debut against Uisma Lima in front of a hometown crowd in Philadelphia, where “Boots” hopes to open the next chapter of his career with a bang.

Ennis is a -2500 favorite over the +1000 underdog Lima. Here are my best free Ennis vs. Lima boxing picks on Saturday, October 11.

Ennis vs Lima prediction and pick

Fight analysis
It says something when Eddie Hearn, Jaron Ennis’ promoter, is already apologizing to fans and promising that "Boots" will face a stronger opponent next time. Ennis remains one of the few fighters in boxing today with genuine superstar potential, yet his career momentum is stalling due to soft matchmaking.

Still, the 28-year-old can only beat whoever’s in front of him, and Uisma Lima won’t be able to slow that rise.

Ennis is the complete package: fast, powerful, aggressive, and composed, with a growing sense of ring IQ that separates the great from the gifted. After dismantling Eimantas Stanionis in six rounds last April, Ennis effectively cleaned out what remained of the welterweight division following Terence Crawford’s departure. Now, moving up to super welterweight, he’s looking for a statement win to announce himself as a force at 154.

Uisma Lima, a once-beaten Angolan, has made waves on the regional scene with upset wins that earned him a ranking at super welterweight. However, his last loss to Aaron McKenna two years ago remains more telling about how he compares outside of the regional circuit. He’s reckless, game, and unafraid to take risks, but that approach will play directly into Ennis’ hands.

Lima used to compete at middleweight, so he’ll have a slight size advantage that might give him a chance to hang with Ennis in the early goings of the fight.

Ennis shines against fighters who come forward and expose openings, where he’ll pressure them before unleashing a volley of shots once they start to push him back.

Lima’s aggression will get him caught early and often. Fans may want to see Ennis tested, but this matchup will give them a taste of what we can expect from him in the new division. Expect some resistance in the early rounds, followed by an inevitable and emphatic finish.

Ennis should dominate from start to stoppage.

Best best analysis
This fight was designed to introduce Ennis to the super welterweight ranks in style. Lima’s aggression ensures action, but his lack of defense and composure means he won’t last long once Ennis opens up.

My best bet here is the fight going under 7.5 rounds, as “Boots” should overwhelm Lima well before the halfway point.
