Which underdog will upset USC this year?

Three years ago, it was Oregon State.
 
Two years ago, it was Stanford.
 
And last year, it was once more the Beavers, who ruined the Trojans chances of playing for the national title.
 
Three years running, the Trojans have blown their national title hopes by losing games they should have not only won, but dominated.
 
Who will it be this year? I go my eye on UCLA.

i see 11-1 or better with the only tough game being at Oregon ....

 at Ohio St. and at Notre Dame

But it's just become one of those things in recent years for USC. The totally out of the blue collapse against some overmatched opponent. Is it Pete Carroll can win the big ones, but he just cant win the little ones? I dont like dwelling on trends, but this one is becomming hard to overlook.

UCLA aint winning at the Colliseum. The one game that scares the hell out of me, besides at Ohio State, is at Oregon. Their loosey goosey type of offense freaks me out.
 
They dont play well up there.

Cal or Oregon are both tough games for USC... they will actually be lucky to win either game, and will most likely lose to Cal...
 
the Oregon game will depend on what they can get from their defense, and how the players respond to the new coach...
 
but Cal is a bad matchup for USC... especially if their new QB doesn't turn into a stud really quickly... i will be surprised if Cal doesn't beat them...

this is the Pete Carroll problem in a nutshell... i started saying this 3 years ago, and every year he has proven me right...

Pete is a great motivator and recruiter... and can be a great gameplanner... but he is absolutely HORRIBLE at making in game adjustments... now, he does a good job with halftime adjustments... but if you come out with a gameplan that he wasn't prepared for... you can pretty much run up the score on USC before halftime, and put them in a hole...

look at OSU last year... in the first half, OSU's gameplan was as vanilla as you could ever get... run Quiz Rodgers over and over and over... never pass the ball downfield (NEVER ONCE) unless it is a must-pass situation (3rd and long)... every single pass attempt in the 1st half was a screen or dump off, except for must-pass downs... meanwhile, they ran ran ran with Quiz...

 

now, this is not a complicated gameplan to adjust to... put 9 in the box, and force them to throw it...

i spotted this necessary adjustment on OSU's 2nd offensive possession, early in the 1st quarter... Pete figured it out, too... at halftime... and they made the adjustment... but WAY TOO FUCKING LATE...

sorry... people like sucking Pete Carroll's dick... but the guy is braindead when it comes to in game coaching... just about as bad as there is in college football...

throw him a curve, and you can take it to the bank that he won't adjust until halftime... i've seen it countless times with USC...

wouldn't shock me, Phil... i personally don't think USC should be a pre-season favorite in either of those games... come gametime, good chance those lines will be around a PK...

3 years running they haven't won in the state of Oregon. 

(Although in fairness, they weren't as good as the Ducks in 07 and were rightly dogged in the line, so that wouldn't count as a "surprise" or "upset" situation.)

I would have to say that Cal has the best shot.  Oregon is too flakey, and may mail in the season if they lose to Boise, Utah, and Cal.  Obviously Ohio State and Notre Dame also have a shot.  I do not trust the Oregon defense.  Cal is the Pac 10 team with the best shot.  USC also is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games in Eugene.  I picked Cal to win it all in the Pac 10.

Cal. They're prepped to make a run at the Pac10, so they're the obvious choice here. Ducks might have a shot as well.

And I expect Ohio State to win in Columbus -- it's hard to label them as true underdogs in this situation, but they will more than likely be getting points here.

Chip Kelly won't allow his Duck team to mail it in.
They have a better chance than Notre Dame because of their  offense and they play the Trojans @ Autzen.
USC has a new QB who has never played in front of Duck fans. He will struggle in the loudest environment in college football.
The defense has questions but they will get the stops they need.
Chip Kelly will spread it out & outscore the Trojans @ Autzen.
