What are the Texans playing for?

Mmmmm The point spread seem to low for this game .Texans are clealy the better team So they laid and egg last game big deal it happens .Yates has been playing pretty good and there Running game should Shread the IND Def...  just my thought ..

I agree. -6 is a small line vs the Colts. Texans are clearly the better team, but while Yates has been acceptable.... I am scared teams may be figuring him out more. 

I think the line is low because of the face

#1 Texans just lost pretty bad to the Panthers and they have some injury issues. TJ Yates looked terrible.

#2 Also Colts showed signs of life by beating the Titans who are a solid team in the hunt for a playoff spot.

#3Colts were able to stay within a Td of the Pats and that says alot.

#4 Since Orvlosky started taking the snaps the offense has improved and the colts have been much more competitive.

The linesmakers are adjusting for all this and that is why I think the line is right on.

I have been looking deep into this game and I like the Texans here -5.5 to cover. I think they will bounce back here playing very good defense and alot of running the ball with foster against that terrible colts run D. Limiting their mistakes and playing a ball control offense. I also see a low scoring game.

Big game for the Texans. I think Colts would be happy to not go winless and pickup Andrew Luck which would be huge for the future of their franchise.

So basically what this all amounts to is I think based on what has happened the last few weeks  we are getting good value on the Texans with the line here. Its not a trap or fishy.

Im all over the Colts in this one.  Texans win by 3-4.  Colts have "quietly" covered 3 in a row vs NE, Balt, and Tenn.  Everyone saw Yates great comeback win over Cincy a couple weeks ago and everyone is thinking Colts got their win outta of the way and are going to close shop for the season.  Its still a primetime home game for them and Yates is still a rookie QB on the road.  Give me the 6 and dont be shocked if line goes down to 4.5 before kick.

hmmm, I think you have to look at your generalized thoughts more carefully. First, your comment that colts have quietly covered 3 in a row is not really properly considering the facts.
I had Colts @ NE (couldn't resist all those points) and I marked that down as a flat out loser in the 4th Q before the game was over. Colts scored 3 late TDs. Talk about a back door cover! They did in no way shape or form hang with NE in this one. NE went into prevent mode late and that score completely masked the truth that this game was domination and a blowout. NE did not care whether they covered the spread, that game was in the bag and NE played like it at the end. Am I complaining that I won? Nope, but I'm not going to fool myself thinking this was a good game for Indy.
The Balt cover was a complete luck-out back door cover. I was score-board watching and Balt had the spread covered with 0.00 on the clock. After a bit, the score changed and still with 0.00 on the clock, Indy had another TD. I didn't bother to check what happened but my assumption was that there was a defensive penalty which by rule gave the Colts another play and obviously they got a TD. I don't know of anything else which could explain what I saw when I was monitoring the scoreboard....Not impressive....
Against Ten, don't forget that was a divisional rivalry game against a so-so Ten (7-7) team..those games give the home team an extra shot of motivation. A winless team with a realistic shot to finally win a game is huge motivation.

Now add into this that the next game is vs Hou who got embarrassed last week with a let down game after clinching the division on the road with a very emotional last second win @ Cin.
I know they wanted to win, but they came out flat and Car just shocked and awed them. Before Hou woke up, it was too late. That won't happen Thurs Nt.
Don't think for a second that Hou isn't the far superior team. Yates is better than you think. The defenses for the respective teams are not really comparable. One is solid, the other about what you would expect for a crap team. Houston will be thinking Redemption this week with a shot for #2 seed AFC. They will come to play. Hou will be anxious to show the world what is what on Prime Time and I think they will take care of business against this crap colts team with a feel-good-OMG-we-actually-won-a-game mentality. The monkey is off their back, they will not have the same fire in their belly this week IMO.
I don't think this score will be close enough to cover the spread.

Just to add one thought, look at how Prime Time motivation @ home for crap teams worked out the last couple times out: SD @ Jack Prime Time - Jack blown out.  Dal @ TB Prime Time - TB dominated.
That's what I expect to see this Prime Time game for the crap home team.

#1 seed in AFC

I think Arian Foster alone can cover this spread; IND may keep it close coming off some adrenaline and being on primetime, but the Texans D will lock down Dan The Moose Orlovsky late in the second half and pick 6 to win by 14.

the colts have dominated the south division as well as the texans at lucas oil.  now that the texans have finally taken over the division, they would love nothing better than to put an exclamation point by taking down the bullies in their own crib.  especially since the texans are 0-9 straight up at indy.  how gratifying to finally get one at the defending champs dome.

That is a very good point and I am one who has gotten porked by crap teams playing at home on primetime...

However this is a thursday night game and that is very different than sunday or monday night on a major network that everyone has.

The NFL Network is not part of normal cable and only like 10% of the population has it so its not quite the nation stage.

Heck I have 1000+ channels extended cable but  don't have the NFL network. I refuse to pay extra for it.

One good bet Thursday night ON the Texans will pay for that NFL Network channel for you. Get it! Texans will cover ... no problem.

Houston is in an unprecedented situation.  That is, when was the last time a playoff team had to develop their third-string QB into a starter right away?  My hunch is that they'll play hard simply to develop TJ Yates.  Indy has their one win; now they can lay down.

I just have to say this :  "Houston is VERY Overrated" especially with Yates as QB!! Colts arent worried about getting Luck, trust me, I know!!!  Colts win last 2 games of season, Bank it boys!!!!!!

Not overthinking at all.  Actually when I play NFL, thats the last thing i do.  I dont play against the two teams on the field.  I try to find the play that Vegas is on.  They are getting money back from the Colts not covering earlier in the year.  Line has been inflated and Colts have covered 3 in a row and it is here again IMO.  Vegas knows they wont get a lot of action cause "Colts are done, they want the Luck draft".  Texans have 91% of action and line and gone from 6.5 to 5.5 in some spots?  I would rather take my chances with the home dog on Thurs night.  I could care less about the draft pick angle but obviously there are others out there that want the think that way and Vegas is happy for that. 

If it goes to +4.5 for Colts and still 85%or more of action on Texans, I will double my play and play the moneyline.
