The Pittsburgh Steelers vs. San Diego Charger game just confirms what gamblers already knew. If NFL games aren't outright fixed, at the very least there are strong influential factors from the game within the game that effect the outcome of some contests. The Steeler game is the shining example that wagering on professional football is officially acknowledged by the League in some capacity.

Down by 1 with 5 seconds to play and needing 80 yards for a winning score, the San Diego Chargers, who happened to be 4 point dogs, tried a desperate combination of laterals hoping for a miracle TD. The second of two legal backwards laterals was knocked down and then scooped up for a game covering TD by Troy Polamalu with no time left.

As the teams exited the field the referees huddled up and decided to review the play. Head referee Scott Green, in a sheepishly convoluted explanation, deemed the play an illegal forward pass that was therefore dead on the spot. The points were taken off, and Scott Green and crew hauled ass off the field. WTF? What illegal forward pass? There was none. Here's an AP interview with Scott Green, conducted by an AP reporter right after the game.

     Last week they were calling it a trap game ,as the Vikings beat the Niners SU with a low number. Is this another trap game, or perhaps San Francisco, is not as good as advertised?

Although in all my years of wagering can i ever understand a let down situation in the NFL when they ony play 16 games and every game can mean making or not making the playoffs not like MLB 162 games or hockey 84 games in which i can understand a few let down games but last week was a huge let down situation for the 49ers beating GB at Lambeau and then beating the Lions in the handshake gate game and then coming the the midwest.  Hardball won't let them lose two in a row.  S.F. minus the pts and M/L. JMHO

this line should be around 7 so value is clearly with SF as public has overreacted to their loss in Minnesota.  at the same time, the public didnt know that SF hadn't won there since the late 90s, and Minnesota is not an easy place to win.

Jets suck.  I watch that team and I cringe with each snap.  Their defense is mediocre at best.  So what if they won a close game vs division rival Phins.  I happen to be a Phins fan and they suck too!  SF is coming off a loss and these Jets are a perfect setup for a win.

San Fran -4 all day.  I'm sure Cantchez will toss a few gifts to that defense.....hahahahahahahahahaha

Niners lost 3 reg season games last year, and then won and covered each of their next games

lost to Dallas, then won 13-8 @ Cincinnati as small dog

lost @ Baltimore, then beat the Rams 26-0

lost @ Arizona, then beat the Steelers 20.3

I know it's a small sample size, but it looks like the Niners rebound well after a loss.  I also noticed that they allowed a total of 11 points in those 3 games

I started laughing as I read this first post.  I won four out of five the last two weeks...going 8-2 by simply betting against the public.  The jury is still out on this weeks game.  SF -4 @ the jets is very interesting.  I have yet to decide on this one...normally i would take the home dog, jets +4, since my guess is the majority of the public will still be on the niners bandwagon.  I'm going to wait and see if this will get up to 4.5.  As far as the gb/seattle game...there was no "fix" as the first post stated...bottom line is refs made a bad call.  The reason that a lil' more $$ was on the pack is because the PUBLIC BETS FAVORITES.  Some you will never understand, and for this reason, the sportsbooks will always win.  If you want to beat the nfl, betting road favorites is not the way to do it.  I work in the industry and MANY people were so thankful...having seattle +3.5 and seattle ML.  What happened there?  Did all of them get an email from some secret source saying "take the seahawks, the game is fixed." ????  Lol...if there really was a "fix"...wouldn't you think it would go towards a popular playoff team like the pack?  FYI...i got a secret email today telling me to take browns +12 and under 44....but i can't reveal my source!  Another dog wins....pay me.  I will post my peasant opinion on this game late tomorrow night. Remember folks...bet with your brain, not your heart!!!!

49ers always

We've seen time and time again, west coast teams struggling on the road for 1:00 east coast start times.  So far one of the big exceptions this season was Arizona at New England in week 2.  One of the reasons Arizona played so well is that Ken Whisenhunt makes him team travel on Friday so they have a full Saturday to get acclimated with the time difference.  In come the 49ers into the somewhat mundane Met Life stadium.  What a horrible road trip! San Fran to New York......WRONG!!!  See below:

San Francisco has tried to help itself for this game by practicing at Youngstown State in Ohio instead of flying back to California and then going cross-country to New York. The 49ers did that last year between the third and fourth weeks of the season and rallied for a 24-23 victory in Philadelphia on Oct. 2 as part of an eight-game streak.  

Look for San Fran to avenge last weeks snoozer to the vikings.  San Fran is too discipline and talented to put up two stinkers in a row.  However, at -4, there is some room for error.  You might be safer laying the wood and taking the money line.   

I lost on SF last week and should use money management and double up on them this week.  Waiting for line to go to -3 (hoping).  Might not play if it's not going to -3.  Jets isn't a good team but they're unpredictable at home.  I also noticed that SF defense is not as great as last year in way that they allow opponent's QB too much time to throw the ball.  But last week's lost against the Vikings should be a big wake up call plus changing of Refs will help.
