This story is only deepening, and the silence from both Alabama and Albetar speaks volumes.

There's nothing wrong with these men selling their autographs then. But is there something wrong with any college kid appearing in a television commercial with someone named Louie Linguini? I think so. Although, let's be fair, this Terrence Cody block sequence is Academy Award winning. Perhaps the greatest single athlete acting performance since Cody's own shirtless forty yard dash. But given the current environment where schools like Ohio State can lose their coach because of tattoo hook-ups, should a Tuscaloosa establishment really be advertising its store with autographed jerseys of Julio Jones, Mark Ingram, and Trent Richardson during the 2010 season? (The date stamp on the T-Town Menswear Facebook album, which you can view for the moment right here -- before it is inevitably pulled early this morning -- is November 1,2010 but the date on the camera is October 19, 2010). Julio Jones and Mark Ingram have since gone pro, although they weren't pros at the time that their autographed helmets and jerseys were inside the store windows. But two of the jerseys in the window Nico Johnson, a rising junior, and Trent Richardson, one of the top Heisman candidates in the country, are back for 2011.

And no matter what Trent Richardson surely shouldn't be posing for photos as he signs helmets in the store.

The relevant NCAA bylaw that governs this situation is found here:

"12.5.2.1 Advertisements and Promotions After Becoming a Student-Athlete. After becoming a student-athlete, an individual shall not be eligible for participation in intercollegiate athletics if the individual: (a) Accepts any remuneration for or permits the use of his or her name or picture to advertise, recommend or promote directly the sale or use of a commercial product or service of any kind."

Does Alabama know about this photo? Can they prove that Richardson paid for his part of the meal? And if Richardson did pay for this meal in January of 2010, isn't it just as damning? Since it would mean by the time he showed up in Albetar's store to sign autographs in September of 2010, he knew Albetar well enough to know that the jerseys were being sold.

Basically, if you're willing to hang out in his shop on many, many days, sign many autographs while being photographed doing so, and go out to dinner with the owner either at his expense or yours, how can Alabama reasonably claim that Richardson didn't know his jerseys and other apparel were being sold? Put simply, Alabama can't.

Furthermore, in light of Kevin Scarbinsky's report do we really believe that Richardson gave up his BCS title game jersey to a stranger and allowed him to hang it on the wall while receiving absolutely nothing in return?

Why Emmert Wont touch Alabama or Saban!

The man who steps into one of the most powerful roles in collegiate sports just happens to be an old friend of Crimson Tide football coach Nick Saban.

Emmert formerly served as chancellor at LSU and was the responsible for hiring Saban as the Tigers' football coach in 2000. This 2004 story from the Seattle Post-Intelligencer goes into more detail of the relationship between the two men.

Though their paths diverged in the latter half of the past decade, they remained "friends," according to Saban's description in Oct. 2008. Saban said Emmert called him in 2007 when he was deciding whether to keep Ty Willingham on as head coach.

"I talk to him on occasion as a friend," Saban said!

Must be nice to have friends who have ABSOLUTE POWER in high places!!

When the kids hear about the $$$ at a program it becomes more of an incentive for them to go there!! The kids know where they can get paid!! They arent stupid!! And Alabama football Alumnis motto is

You skip over the story of the pro sports agent who accused Saban of paying players and giving them benifits, while running with any and all other stories of toehr programs who were accused of (and not even proven that they did it) cheating in any way. I think i do Know your too powerful for this to affect you, because Mark Emmert (Makes 1million plus a year) was put on the map by Nick saban through LSU, and owes his income to the man, there isnt a NCAA committee its run by one man!!!

Now why would so many players sign autographs for a random suit shop? How does Tom Albetar become such a popular guy amongst football players.

Why not go to another store and sign autographs? I’m sure there is plenty of Alabama fans in Tuscaloosa that own stores that would love to have free autographs in their store? This is if there were actually free…

Last month, Nick Saban was also accused of cheating by Pittsburgh sports agent Ralph Cindrich.

My biggest problem with all this is why the NCAA has not started an investigation. If they are innocent why not do a search and then come out publicly and announce it.
