Preview: Texas Christian at Oklahoma

When: 8:00 PM ET, Saturday, November 21, 2015
Where: Gaylord Family - Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, Norman, Oklahoma

TCU might be without senior quarterback Trevone Boykin and will be missing senior receiver Josh Doctson when it visits No. 7 Oklahoma in a Big 12 clash on Saturday. The No. 18 Horned Frogs won't know if Boykin (ankle) can play until late in the week while coach Gary Patterson announced on Wednesday that Doctson (wrist) will miss the final two games of the regular season.

Boykin has passed for 3,427 yards and 29 touchdowns against nine interceptions, while Doctson was enjoying a huge campaign and has set single-season school marks with 79 catches for 1,327 yards and 14 touchdowns. "Our kids want to win a conference title, but I don't think you do it at the sake of playing somebody when they're not ready to go,” TCU coach Gary Patterson said at a press conference. Oklahoma might be the hottest team in the Big 12 as it has averaged 55.2 points while reeling off five straight victories and recorded a 44-34 road victory over Baylor last Saturday. "What we need to do is play with that chip on our shoulder, because when we're playing angry and we're aggressive and we're playing like we have something to prove, we're a pretty good football team," senior center Ty Darlington said at a press conference. "But when we’re sitting back and being content with what others think we are, we're not nearly as effective."

TV: 8 p.m. ET, ABC. LINE: None.

ABOUT TCU (9-1, 6-1 Big 12): Redshirt freshman Foster Sawyer -- who went 1-for-7 with a 42-yard touchdown pass last Saturday against Kansas -- is being prepared to start in case Boykin can't play, while senior Bram Kohlhausen (13-of-19 for 112 yards and one interception against the Jayhawks) will be an in-game option. Senior running back Aaron Green had a career-best 177 yards against Kansas and needs 27 more to produce the Horned Frogs' first 1,000-yard rushing season since Ed Wesley (1,078) in 2010. Senior defensive tackle Davion Pierson has 22.5 career tackles for losses but only 2.5 have come this season as he has never hit his stride after an early-season concussion sidelined him for three games.

ABOUT OKLAHOMA (9-1, 6-1): The Sooners are thriving on offense behind the standout trio of junior quarterback Baker Mayfield (3,082 yards, 31 touchdown passes), sophomore running back Samaje Perine (972 yards, 12 rushing touchdowns) and senior receiver Sterling Shepard (61 catches for 1,003 yards and nine touchdowns). Mayfield has been intercepted just five times while forming a bond with Shepard -- who ranks third in school history with 208 career receptions -- while Perine is averaging 121.6 yards and 7.1 yards per carry over the past five games. Senior outside linebacker Eric Striker leads the defense with 14 tackles for loss (including seven sacks) while junior inside linebacker Dominique Alexander (team-high 82 tackles) and junior cornerback Zack Sanchez (team-leading four interceptions) are also having strong seasons.

EXTRA POINTS

1. Oklahoma holds a 9-5 series edge but TCU posted a 37-33 victory in last season's meeting.

2. Horned Frogs senior K Jaden Oberkrom has 74 career field goals, one off the Big 12 record held by Oklahoma's Michael Hunnicutt (2011-14).

3. Shepard had a career-high 215 receiving yards in last season's game versus TCU.

PREDICTION: Oklahoma 48, TCU 26
