After a brief break in action, the WNBA is back on the betting board with two games this Thursday.
The New York Liberty face the Washington Mystics for the second time in less than a week while the Golden State Valkyries visit a short-handed Phoenix Mercury squad.
I pay attention to the individual efforts and give my best WNBA picks and player prop predictions for June 5.

Sabrina Ionescu Over 2.5 3-pointers made (+100 at bet365)
The Liberty are off and running, bringing an undefeated record back to Washington where they won by 22 points last Friday. Sabrina Ionescu blasted the Mystics for 28 points in that victory, including making 4 of 11 looks from 3-point range.
The Mystics have a deep frontcourt protecting the paint, pushing opponents to the outside and forcing them to fire up a league-high 30.1 3-point attempts per contest. Washington has done well to defend the perimeter, but Sabrina is on another level when it comes to taking and making long-range looks.
She been especially lethal from distance the past three games, hitting a collective 14 triples on 32 attempts beyond the arc.
Game models for Ionescu range from 2.5 to 2.8 makes from 3-point land, with a much higher ceiling considering her current form and the Mystics defense forcing foes to the outside.
Satou Sabally 20+ points & 7+ rebounds (+135 at bet365)
Satou Sabally is a one-woman wrecking crew in Phoenix with Kahleah Copper still out and Alyssa Thomas battling a calf injury.
She played only 22 minutes in a one-side loss to Minnesota on Tuesday, still shooting 16 times and finishing with 15 points. In the three games prior, she was logged 30-plus minutes and attempted 19, 20, and 21 field goal attempts, putting up efforts of 20, 24, and 26 points for the Mercury.
Sabally has also had to shoulder the rebounding load as well, hauling in eight or more boards in each of her last six contests. That includes eight rebounds in her limited minutes at Minnesota on Tuesday.
Golden State has already been bullied by some of the top-scoring forwards in the WNBA in their opening games, giving up piles of points and rebounds to the likes of Breanna Stewart, Dearica Hamby, and Napheesa Collier.
Player models for Thursday call for as many as 24.5 points and 10.2 rebounds for Sabally.
Kayla Thornton 10+ points & 5+ rebounds (+100 at bet365)
Kayla Thornton is a steady anchor for the WNBA’s newest team, kicking off 2025 by averaging 12 points and six rebounds.
The 6-foot-1 forward has posted at least 10 points and five rebounds five straight games and should have advantageous matchups against a Mercury roster in rough shape.
Phoenix is still down Copper, Thomas’ status is iffy (with coach Nate Tibbetts unsure of when she’ll resume basketball activities), forward Natasha Mack has yet to play, and reserve guard Megan McConnell is a GTD.
Phoenix was out-rebounded 37-24 by Minnesota last time out, with the Mercury boasting a rebound rate of 46.6%, dead-last in the league.
Thornton scored just 10, 11, and 13 points in the past three games, but those came versus New York and Minnesota — two of the toughest defenses in the land. The Mercury started the season strong but injuries have hindered their effectiveness, with the team going 2-2 with a defensive rating of 100.3 the past four games.
Projections for Thursday peg Thornton between 10.13 and 11.9 points with rebounding forecasts ranging from 6.2 to 7.1. This SGP is priced as high as -130 at some books but you can get EVEN money at bet365.
