The Storm are scuffling, and that will be music to Kiki Iriafen's ears as she leads the Mystics to a convincing victory tonight.

The Seattle Storm will take a step up in competition as they continue their homestand against the Washington Mystics today.

Seattle has struggled to beat some of the weakest teams in the league, and I’m betting on Washington to overmatch the home team in my Mystics vs. Storm predictions below.

Read on for a full analysis of this afternoon’s matchup and to get my free WNBA picks for Sunday, May 24.

Mystics vs Storm prediction

Mystics vs Storm best bet: Mystics -4.5 (-110)

The Seattle Storm have played the bottom-dwelling Sun three times this year and have also taken on the expansion Tempo.

Despite that soft schedule, their numbers still rank near the bottom of the league. Seattle is 14th in offensive rating (99.0) with an effective field goal percentage of just 48.1%

The Washington Mystics have the WNBA’s youngest roster, which can lead to inconsistency. But Seattle doesn’t have the firepower to compete with this talented squad.

I’m backing the Mystics, though I’d be wary of betting this line if it gets higher than 5.5 points.

Covers COVERS INTEL: The Mystics are holding opponents to 29.5 points per game in the paint, the lowest number in the WNBA this season.

Mystics vs Storm same-game parlay

Along with taking the Mystics to cover, I’m targeting Kiki Iriafen to have a big game against the Storm. Now in her second year as a pro, Iriafen is averaging 16.5 points and 12.8 rebounds per game, and has three double-doubles in her first four games this season, coming up just one point short of a fourth on Monday.

Iriafen has gone for double-digit rebounds in every game this year, and has scored 20+ points in two of her last three games. I love the Over on both her scoring and rebounding totals tonight against an overmatched Storm team.

Mystics vs Storm SGP

  • Mystics -4.5
  • Kiki Iriafen Over 14.5 points
  • Kiki Iriafen Over 10.5 rebounds

Mystics vs Storm first basket scorer: Kiki Iriafen (+700)

When it comes to the first basket scorer market for tonight, Iriafen has the most value for bettors. The Mystics have three players who share the majority of the offensive load: Iriafen, Sonia Citron, and center Shakira Austin. All three take about 11 shots per game, making around six.

Yet while Austin is listed at +375 on the first-basket market and Citron is fetching +600, we can get +700 on Iriafen. I’m taking the best odds on the board among Washington’s top scorers, and that means backing Iriafen to get tonight’s first basket.

Since joining Covers in 2022, Ed has offered his sports betting analysis primarily on MLB, NFL, college football, and college basketball games, but is willing to take on any sport.

His betting strategy focuses more on finding line value based on deviations from the market rather than traditional handicapping, primarily shopping between DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics in his home state of Connecticut, though he’s not afraid to do deep game analysis to find profitable bets at any book.

Outside of gambling, Ed is an avid curler who competes in mixed doubles on the World Curling Tour and runs a popular curling YouTube channel, Chess on Ice. That experience has come in handy during the Olympics, when he has proven to be a successful curling bettor as well.

Ed's advice to new bettors is to always open multiple sportsbook accounts and check the odds at each before placing any bet. Successful sports betting is about consistently beating the closing line value, which requires finding spots where one book is offering odds far better than the rest of the market and jumping on those opportunities.
