After a down-to-the-wire thriller earlier this week, the Sun and Lynx instantly run it back tonight at Mohegan Sun Arena.

The Connecticut Sun will look to make it a home-and-home sweep as they host the Minnesota Lynx on Wednesday night.

Connecticut and Minnesota combined for 179 points on Monday, and I’m taking the Over again in my Lynx vs. Sun predictions below.

Let’s break down this matchup and take a look at my free WNBA picks for Wednesday, July 8.

Lynx vs Sun prediction

Lynx vs Sun best bet: Over 167.5 (-110)

The Minnesota Lynx were without presumptive Rookie of the Year Olivia Miles (18.5 ppg), but still put up 89 points against the Connecticut Sun on Monday.

I expect more of the same tonight, as Minnesota is second in the WNBA in scoring (90.2 ppg) while Connecticut has a defensive rating of 107.6, fourth-worst in the league.

The Sun offense has come to life, averaging 86.0 ppg over their last eight contests. With both teams in the top half of the league in pace and coming off a game with a total of 179, I’m taking the Over at 169.5 or less.

Lynx vs Sun same-game parlay

Yes, the Sun were able to win in Minnesota on Monday, and yes, Miles is likely to be out (or at least severely limited) again in tonight’s game.

But the gap between these two teams is too big for me to overreact to one good result for Connecticut. Books have cut the line significantly for Wednesday’s game, and I see the Lynx as the smart play for spread bettors.

One player who continued to find success for Minnesota on Monday was Kayla McBride. She scored 28 points and hit four threes in the game, the fourth straight contest in which she hit at least four shots from deep.

Connecticut lets opponents shoot 35.2% from beyond the arc, and with the Lynx missing some of their other offensive options, I love McBride to fire away again and hit Over 2.5 threes tonight.

Since joining Covers in 2022, Ed has offered his sports betting analysis primarily on MLB, NFL, college football, and college basketball games, but is willing to take on any sport.

His betting strategy focuses more on finding line value based on deviations from the market rather than traditional handicapping, primarily shopping between DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics in his home state of Connecticut, though he’s not afraid to do deep game analysis to find profitable bets at any book.

Outside of gambling, Ed is an avid curler who competes in mixed doubles on the World Curling Tour and runs a popular curling YouTube channel, Chess on Ice. That experience has come in handy during the Olympics, when he has proven to be a successful curling bettor as well.

Ed's advice to new bettors is to always open multiple sportsbook accounts and check the odds at each before placing any bet. Successful sports betting is about consistently beating the closing line value, which requires finding spots where one book is offering odds far better than the rest of the market and jumping on those opportunities.
