The Indiana Fever hold a big rest and prep edge in their second straight meeting with Golden State. Jason Logan sees that as an edge for Aliyah Boston, who battles on the boards against a Valkyries offense creating plenty of rebounding opportunities.

Indiana Fever center Aliyah Boston had a big game the last time she faced the Golden State Valkyries.

It just so happens Indiana takes on Golden State for the second straight contest, thanks to a quirky schedule.

While the Fever enjoyed almost a week off between meetings to rest and practice, the Valkyries (who are slim -1.5 home favorites) are forced to jam three games into seven days after playing Monday.

Our Fever vs. Valkyries predictions see the extra break as a boost for Boston and my WNBA picks like her to clean the glass in the Bay Area on Thursday, May 28.

Fever vs Valkyries prediction

Fever vs Valkyries best bet: Aliyah Boston Over 7.5 rebounds (-105)

Added rest is extremely valuable to Indiana Fever center Aliyah Boston, who’s been nursing a nagging leg injury since the winter.

She reaggravated that ailment in mid-May and sat versus Seattle, giving her five days off before coming back for big efforts on the boards with eight rebounds against Portland and 16 rebounds versus the Golden State Valkyries last Friday.

Boston logged a season-high 29 minutes in that matchup and with both sides taking a ton of triples, low-percentage looks translate into a surplus of rebounding chances.

With a well-rested spring in her step, Boston is projected for 10+ rebounds tonight.

Covers COVERS INTEL: Golden State games produce ample rebounding opportunities for opponents. The Valkyries shoot a WNBA-high 71.7 FGAs on a league-low 40.5% success. That’s why Golden State allows the second most total rebounds to foes (45.3 per game).

Fever vs Valkyries same-game parlay

The Fever were able to hold off a late surge from the Valkyries last Friday but have a bigger rest and practice edge in this second stop of a home-and-home series. Golden State was forced to play another game in between those meetings, hosting Connecticut on Monday.

Indiana has been the only offense to crack the WNBA’s top-rated defense. And let’s not discount the Fever’s defense either. They sit behind the Valks in terms of advanced defensive rating and checked Golden State to 37% shooting last week.

Indiana’s perimeter patrol is among the best in the land and that throws a wrench into the Valkyries’ game plan. Golden State’s aggressiveness from beyond the arc is a high-risk, high-reward tactic that produces plenty of misses. Clark and Boston do their best Windex impersonation, cleaning the glass and topping their respective rebounding prop totals.

Fever vs Valkyries SGP

  • Fever +1.5
  • Aliyah Boston Over 7.5 rebounds
  • Caitlin Clark Over 4.5 rebounds

Caitlin Clark pick: Over 4.5 rebounds (-120)

I’m applying a similar handicap to Caitlin Clark’s rebounding prop tonight.

She snatched only two rebounds versus Golden State last week but was playing through a bad back that held her out of the previous game. That had CC reluctant to battle and boxout on the glass.

Clark’s two-rebound performance last time out has oddsmakers discounting her total from 5.5 O/U on Friday to 4.5 O/U tonight – her lowest rebounding total of the season.

With almost week to rest up, Clark gets back after it on the boards tonight. She recorded seven rebounds versus Seattle and will have the opportunity to put up similar stats against a Valkyries squad generating a surplus of misses.

Tonight’s projections call for 5.6 boards which should have Over 4.5 priced around -160 but we’re getting a shorter ask at this current vig.
