Alabama 30: Terrance Broadway passed for 305 yards and two touchdowns
and rushed for 65 yards and another score as the Ragin' Cajuns set a
season high for points in routing the visiting Jaguars.
Louisiana-Lafayette (7-4, 5-2 Sun
Belt) spotted South Alabama a 7-0 lead early in the first quarter
then scored 17 unanswered points, highlighted by Broadway's 75-yard
touchdown pass to Harry Peoples.
After the Jaguars (2-10, 1-7)
pulled to within one with 6:13 to go in the second on a trio of
Michel Chapuseaux field goals, the Ragin' Cajuns scored 21 consecutive points to take
control of the game. Broadway hit Javone Lawson with a 16-yard
scoring strike with 16 seconds left in the first half, and
Effrem Reed and Broadway each had scoring runs in the third quarter.
Peoples finished with five
catches for 166 yards, while Lawson had three receptions for 113.
Blaine Gautier connected with Jacob Maxwell on an 18-yard scoring
pass early in the fourth quarter, and Yobes Walker scored on a 1-yard run to close the scoring for Louisiana-Lafayette.
Ross Metheny was 27-of-44 for 360
yards and two second-half scores for the Jaguars. Jereme Jones (23 yards) and
Gabe Loper (28) were on the receiving end of Metheny's scoring tosses.
