Walker Kessler has been dominant for the Lakers, but facing his former team presents challenges. Lauri Markkanen and Jaren Jackson Jr. can stretch the floor, pulling Kessler away from the paint and opening driving lanes for Utah's guards. Darryn Peterson and Keyonte George can exploit Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves in isolation. At 32%, I like the Jazz, pricing them closer to 37% to beat the Lakers on Sunday.

Despite Friday's disappointing loss to Dallas, I'll back Indiana at 69% against Brooklyn, pricing the Pacers closer to 75%. The two-man game between Tyrese Haliburton and Ivica Zubac should exploit the Nets' young guards, Egor Demin and Nolan Traore. With Aaron Nesmith back, Indiana's depth is another advantage, allowing the Pacers to extend their lead even when the starters sit.

During the 2025-26 campaign, including the postseason, the Oklahoma City Thunder were 29-2 straight-up whenever favored by at least 14 points, but only 17-14 covering the spread under those circumstances.
Since Dec. 31, 2016, the Clippers have put together a 1-15 record SU with just three covers in 16 total road outings in Oklahoma City. Three of those spreads painted the former as an underdog of nine or more points, and the average margin of defeat came out to 21.6 points.
The Thunder have held two of their biggest challengers in the West, the Denver Nuggets and San Antonio Spurs, to 95.9 points per 100 possessions through two games, and those teams ranked in the top three in offense a season ago.

Paolo Banchero is out with a high ankle sprain and expected to miss significant time. Orlando has managed without him before, but this is a tough matchup against the defending champions. Without the Banchero-Wagner duo, New York can use Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby, and Josh Hart to focus on Franz Wagner. Anthony Black's questionable status adds another concern, as he has yet to play this season.

Fading Minnesota hasn't paid off to start the season, but I'll back Toronto with the Raptors trading at 41%. I may be undervaluing LaMelo Ball's impact in my projections, but Toronto is an Eastern Conference contender with value at this price. Kawhi Leonard, Scottie Barnes, and Immanuel Quickley can all exploit Rudy Gobert's drop coverage with their mid-range games, giving the Raptors multiple ways to attack Minnesota's defense.

This matchup between two Eastern Conference contenders comes with a lengthy injury report. LeBron James sat Saturday, so I expect him back Sunday, while Joel Embiid could rest after playing Saturday. Embiid's potential absence is a major boost for Detroit, especially with Jalen Duren out and Paul Reed starting. The drop-off from Duren to Reed is less significant against Adem Bona than Embiid. Ausar Thompson is also questionable, but I'll back the Pistons at 46%.

Zach Edey's absence is a major boost for Domantas Sabonis, who can attack the paint and dominate the glass without Memphis' imposing shot-blocker in the way. Cedric Coward is also questionable after missing Friday's game against Golden State. With Edey out and Coward's status uncertain, the Grizzlies are too expensive at 64% on the road. I'll back Darius Acuff Jr. at 37% to light the beam.

Betting the moneyline in the NBA means you're picking the winner of the game, no strings attached. If the team you bet on emerges victorious, then so do you.

In this example, the Los Angeles Lakers are the favorites to win the game as their moneyline odds have a minus sign (-) in front of the number. The favorites will have the minus sign present, and the underdogs will have a plus sign (+).
Betting $100 on the Lakers would pay you $180, your original $100 bet, plus $80 in winnings. If you bet $100 on the Warriors, since oddsmakers believe they're less likely to win this game, the payout would be $250, with a profit of $150.
Betting the spread in the NBA provides more wiggle room to bettors for games that may appear one-sided on paper. Rather than simply picking the winner like you would with the moneyline, you can instead pick the point differential to give underdogs more of a fighting chance with your wagers.

In this example, the Lakers are favored to not only win the game against the Warriors, but to do so by at least 4.5 points. As a gentle reminder, the minus sign (-) determines the favorite for the game in question.
Should the Lakers win by five points, that would mean Los Angeles "covered the spread," resulting in a win for those who bet in their favor. However, if the Lakers won by four points, that would mean the Warriors "covered the spread" instead.
The -110 betting line enclosed in parentheses is fairly common for spread bets. That is the number bettors would follow to determine potential gains and losses, just like the moneyline. Odds are usually equal on both sides of the line, but can range from -105 to -120 (or more) in either direction.
An Over/Under bet in the NBA has nothing to do with which team wins the game. Instead, all that matters is the total combined score for that game and whether it exceeds a preset number established by oddsmakers.

In this example, oddsmakers have set the total score for the Lakers and Warriors at 240.5 points.
As a bettor, you can select the Over if you believe the two teams will combine to score more than 240.5 points, 241 or more, or bet the Under if they'll score fewer than 240.5 points, 240 or fewer.
If the set number was a whole number like 240 points, for example, and the two teams combined to score exactly that amount, then the result would be a push and you'd get your money back on the wager.
