After a down year in 2024 with the St. Louis Cardinals, Paul Goldschmidt has found his best once again since landing in the Bronx. The veteran signed a one-year deal with the New York Yankees in the offseason, and he’s been one of their top hitters. Goldschmidt is slashing .373 in 20 games, smacking 28 hits in 75 at-bats. He has at least one hit in six of his last seven contests and went 3 for 4 on Friday to lead the way in a 1-0 win over Tampa Bay. In fact, the slugger has three multi-hit games in three of his previous five appearances. To be honest, I’m eyeing this bet mostly for his three-game hitting streak. Goldschmidt has six hits in the last three games alone and also three runs during that span. The 37-year-old will contribute offensively again versus Tampa.

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
