Colorado @ Chicago preview

Wrigley Field

Last Meeting ( Aug 24, 2012 ) Colorado 3, Chi. Cubs 5

The Colorado Rockies were done in by both the long ball and defensive miscues in their series-opening loss to the Chicago Cubs. Manager Jim Tracy's club will look to rebound on Saturday and post its 10th win in 13 outings when it visits Wrigley Field for the second contest of the three-game set. Rookie Brett Jackson, Alfonso Soriano and Welington Castillo homered and a pair of errors allowed two more runs to score in Chicago's 5-3 triumph on Friday.

Joe Mather's RBI single snapped a tie in the eighth inning as the Cubs ended a four-game losing skid and won for just the fifth time in 22 contests. The Rockies, meanwhile, failed in their bid for a season-high sixth straight win. Tracy admitted that he may give a longer leash to his starters now that Jhoulys Chacin returned from the disabled list.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Rockies RH Alex White (2-6, 5.55 ERA) vs. Cubs LH Brooks Raley (1-2, 7.63)

White is searching for his first win since June 3 when he takes the mound on Saturday. The 23-year-old pitched just four innings for the fourth straight outing and collected as many no-decisions after scattering three hits versus the New York Mets on Monday. White has yet to face the Cubs in his young career.

Raley will make his fourth start of the season on Saturday. The 24-year-old picked up his first major-league win despite yielding four runs on five hits in 5 1/3 innings in a 9-7 triumph over Cincinnati last Saturday. Raley has permitted four homers and 14 runs in 15 1/3 innings since being recalled from Triple-A Iowa on Aug. 7.

WALK-OFFS

1. Soriano has belted all 23 of homers this season since May 15. The total trails only Milwaukee's Ryan Braun (24) for top honors in the majors.

2. After some early-season troubles, Cubs closer Carlos Marmol has converted all 15 save opportunities since May 2.

3. Colorado SS Troy Tulowitzki began his rehab assignment following left groin surgery on Friday. He went 1-for-3 with a double.

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
