Philadelphia @ Miami preview

Last Meeting ( Aug 14, 2012 ) Philadelphia 1, Miami 0
The Marlins matched a team record for consecutive scoreless innings at 27 on Tuesday, and it doesn’t get any easier when the Phillies start two-time Cy Young award winner Roy Halladay in Wednesday's series finale. The Phillies have won three straight to move eight games under .500, which is their best record since June 30. Miami has lost five of its last six and continue to look at players with an eye toward next season. Catcher Rob Brantly, acquired from Detroit at the trade deadline as part of the Anibal Sanchez deal, went 0-for-3 in his major league debut Tuesday. The Phillies are also looking toward next year, which means that infielder Placido Polanco isn’t guaranteed regular playing time when he returns from the disabled list. Polanco, who has been out since July 23 with back inflammation, will begin a rehab assignment Wednesday with Single-A Clearwater. The Phillies aren’t expected to bring Polanco back next season, so he’ll likely share time with journeyman Kevin Frandsen at third base when he returns. In the outfield, John Mayberry Jr. and Domonic Brown are expected to get regular starts with Nate Schierholtz (toe) likely out for the rest of the season.

This will be Buehrle’s sixth attempt to secure his 12th consecutive 10-win season to tie Yankees' C.C. Sabathia for the longest active streak. He's 0-3 with a 6.84 ERA in his last five starts.
