Joey Lucchesi threw six strong innings, and Wil Myers belted a lead-extending, two-run home run in the ninth inning Saturday night as the visiting San Diego Padres outlasted the San Francisco Giants 4-1 in a game that was marred by a crowd-silencing injury to Giants pitcher Reyes Moronta.

Moronta crumpled to the dirt at the front of the pitchers' mound in serious pain in the sixth inning after sustaining an arm injury on his third pitch to Luis Urias.

The 26-year-old right-hander was escorted straight to the clubhouse by the Giants' medical staff. He was diagnosed with an acute right shoulder strain and he will undergo an MRI exam Sunday, San Francisco manager Bruce Bochy told reporters after the game.

Moronta was pitching in a 1-1 game at the time, in relief of rookie Logan Webb, who matched Lucchesi pitch-for-pitch in a duel of former Northern California prep standouts.

The Padres broke the tie in the eighth when Manny Machado tripled to lead off the inning against the fourth Giants pitcher, Tony Watson (2-2), and scored on a one-out single by Josh Naylor.

Myers' homer came against All-Star Will Smith in the ninth to pad the San Diego lead to 4-1.

Neither Lucchesi nor Webb got a decision.

Lucchesi held the Giants to one run on eight hits in his six innings. He walked one and struck out three.

The only run against Lucchesi came on a solo homer by the second batter he faced in the game, Giants outfielder Austin Slater. It was Slater's fifth homer of the year.

Webb likewise was charged with one run in his 5 2/3 innings. He allowed seven hits and one walk with seven strikeouts.

Craig Stammen (7-6) got the win after throwing scoreless seventh and eighth innings. Padres closer Kirby Yates recorded his 39th save with three straight strikeouts in the ninth.

Nick Martini, making his first start in left field for the Padres, had two hits, as did Machado, Naylor, Austin Hedges and Manuel Margot, helping San Diego beat the Giants for the second time in three nights.

Joey Rickard collected two hits for the Giants, who fell to 1-4 on their six-game homestand that ends Sunday.
