Both of Wrexham’s Championship wins this season have come on the road, but that resiliency will be put to the test on Saturday with a trip to Stoke City.

While the Potters have taken seven points from four outings at bet365 Stadium this year, neither team has found its best attacking form, and my Stoke City vs. Wrexham predictions signal a low-scoring scrap.

Check out my free betting picks for this October 18 clash, as league action returns following the international break.

Stoke City vs Wrexham picks and predictions

My Stoke City vs Wrexham best bet: Under 2.5 (-133 at Sports Interaction)

Stoke City enter this weekend in fifth place in the early Championship table, but that strong start has stemmed more from gritty organization than dynamic attacks. If goalfests are your thing, this may not be the match for you.

The Potters have cashed the Under on 2.5 goals in six straight games – most recently in a 1-1 draw with Blackburn – and they’ve only conceded four times in that span. I’m expecting a similar stingy script on Saturday.

Wrexham have trended in the same direction lately, nailing this prop in their past four contests after some end-to-end thrillers in August, where their back line was exposed. The visitors’ game plan should revolve around soaking up attacks and transitioning with speed.

The Red Dragons settled for just 32% of the possession while earning a hard-fought point at Leicester at the end of last month, and Phil Parkinson’s 3-4-2-1 formation has had better balance with Lewis O’Brien and Josh Windass playing behind Kieffer Moore.

The international break is the other wildcard for this fixture. Among the players logging minutes for their countries, Wrexham forwards Moore and Nathan Broadhead came off the bench for Wales against Belgium on Monday, while Stoke City’s Sorba Thomas played the full 90 minutes in that contest. Those exertions could mean some reshuffling, and it’s another reason to lean into this Under.

Stoke City vs Wrexham same-game parlay (SGP)

Under 2.5 goals

Draw

Josh Windass 1+ shots on target

With the expectation that the two defenses will shine, the tie is an enticing pick to go alongside the total goals Under. Both teams have drawn their last three Championship outings, and there’s potential for the fear of making a mistake to lead to a stalemate at bet365 Stadium.

But that won’t stop Windass from taking aim when he gets into range. He’s already netted three times in the league this year for the Red Dragons, and he’s averaging 2.55 shots per 90 minutes, with 0.93 on target. I see him testing Viktor Johansson in the Stoke City net this weekend.
