Best Premier League predictions
Liverpool to win outright (+175)
Man United to finish higher than Newcastle (-138)
Viktor Gyökeres top scorer (+700)
Liverpool to win outright (+175 at bet365)
Liverpool enter the new Premier League season as the +175 favorites, down from +225, and there’s a strong case to be made that this squad is actually better on paper than last year’s title-winning side.
While they lost Trent Alexander-Arnold, the Reds replaced him with Jeremie Frimpong — one of the best attacking wingbacks in Europe — and bolstered their attack with the addition of Florian Wirtz, an elite offensive talent who can break open defenses. They also pulled off a shrewd late-window move by signing Hugo Ekitike from Newcastle, adding yet another versatile scoring option.
Mohamed Salah remains at the peak of his powers after producing a remarkable 29 goals and 18 assists last season, and Liverpool’s midfield is firmly in its prime.
Combine that with one of the deepest squads in the league, and this is a team built to contend across all competitions. At the current price, they’re a smart-money pick to go back-to-back.
Man United to finish higher than Newcastle (-138 at bet365)
Man United quietly put together a solid transfer window. Their attack has real danger, and with a full preseason under new manager Ruben Amorim, I’m expecting a more fluid, attacking style of play.
If they manage to secure Gianluigi Donnarumma from PSG, it would be an immediate upgrade in goal, and in low-scoring matches, an extra save or two can be the difference between three points and one.
Newcastle, on the other hand, had one of the worst transfer windows among the top clubs. There’s uncertainty around Alexander Isak, and the possible departure of Sandro Tonali would be another major blow.
Combined with the demands of Champions League football, this squad simply doesn’t have the depth to keep pace. A mid-table finish wouldn’t surprise me, and that’s why I’m on United to finish higher.
Viktor Gyökeres top scorer (+700 at bet365)
Erling Haaland is the rightful favorite to win the Premier League Golden Boot, but at that price, you’re banking on another 30-plus goal season, and I’m not quite high enough on Manchester City to trust that number.
Which is why I'm backing Viktor Gyökeres at longer odds.
Arsenal have been searching for a true No. 9, and Gyökeres fits the bill perfectly. He’s coming off back-to-back prolific seasons at Sporting, scoring 39 goals last year and 29 the year before. With the service he’ll get at the Emirates, he’s undervalued in this market.
Throw in the fact that Liverpool have plenty of mouths to feed up front, I don't expect another 30-goal campaign from Salah.
Newcastle's main threat, Aleksander Isak, finished second in scoring last year, but with uncertainty surrounding where he'll be playing this year (and how much), there's plenty of red flags.
