It's still early in the season, but this game is of major importance in the economy of the title race.

A lot is at stake, as two of the favourites for the Premier League crown face off in Manchester. Both had their ups and downs this season, and both are desperate for consistency if they are to challenge Arsenal at the top. I will avoid the moneyline and opt for goals in this much-anticipated match.

Here are my Man City v Liverpool predictions and free betting picks for Sunday, November 9.

Premier League predictions for Man City vs Liverpool

My Man City vs Liverpool best bet: Under 3.5 (-159 at Sports Interaction)

There have been under 2.5 goals scored in the last four matches between Man City and Liverpool in all competitions. Despite improving massively since last year's mid-season fall, City has seen slumps on the road since the start of the current campaign. They have already lost three times in just ten games, which is uncommon in the Guardiola era.

Champions Liverpool have four defeats to their record. Last week's 2-0 defeat of Aston Villa ended a four-game losing streak for Arne Slot's men. Liverpool also managed to boost their confidence thanks to a 1-0 win against Real Madrid at Anfield on Tuesday, so the fans would hope the dark days are left behind. But in a confrontation like the one against City, you can rarely predict things. What I do expect is neither side to play it out riskily, also given the fact that we're after a consuming Champions League week.

The recent history of the City v Liverpool encounters shows that goals haven't been on offer that much, so I'll stick to the under 3.5 at Sports Interaction, paying -159.

Man City vs Liverpool same-game parlay (SGP)

Under 3.5 goals

Over 3.5 cards

Over 9.5 corners

Erling Haaland 2+ shots on target

Mo Salah 1+ shot on target

City's corners' average this season stands at 5.5, with Liverpool's at 5. I am counting on a lot of deliveries from all sides in this match, so I'll take the over 9.5 corners in my SGP. I'm also looking at cards, given the high intensity this match is going to be played in.

Man City’s Erling Haaland has netted 98 goals in 107 Premier League appearances. He's on track to become the fastest player to 100 goals in Premier League history, with Alan Shearer the current quickest to 100 (in 124 games). I will not have in-form Haaland as an anytime scorer, but I'll prefer shooting on target on this occasion. To round up a nice +1,350 return, I won't leave out Mo Salah either. I see the 1+ shots on target from the Egyptian as a valid option.
