Sunday’s final Premier League games sees Chelsea and Liverpool meeting at Stamford Bridge, but the big question is whether the new champions will be going easy.

Chelsea are favorites for this, based purely on them still having to fight to finish in the UCL slots, but our Chelsea vs. Liverpool predictions believe that the away team’s superior quality will help them win this game at a big price.

Premier League predictions for Chelsea vs Liverpool

My Chelsea vs Liverpool best bet: Liverpool moneyline (+230 at FanDuel)

My analysis
Chelsea host Liverpool on Sunday, with Stamford Bridge playing host to one of the most interesting betting propositions this season.

With the Reds newly crowned League champions, the odds have totally flipped the narrative of this game. However, I believe this presents a unique opportunity to get the far more complete team, at a very juicy plus-money price, despite the hosts having more to play for.

The London club is fighting for a Champions League spot and enters the round fifth in the table, with what is effectively five clubs, fighting for the three UCL spots now occupied by either Liverpool or Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have won the title and will have no motivation to play at their best ahead of this game, especially given that they would have enjoyed themselves celebrating that title last Sunday. However, this thinking doesn’t really stack up when held to scrutiny.

Firstly, Chelsea played on Thursday in the Europa Conference League, while Liverpool comes into this with a week of rest. Likewise, Chelsea will have to play the second leg of their semifinal next week before Liverpool plays. It’s the London team that are most likely to come into this game struggling with fitness and the demands of playing games in quick succession.

Could Liverpool have celebrated too hard? It’s possible, but we need to remember that the modern Premier League is unlike soccer in the 80s, or even the 90s. These players are finely tuned athletes, many of whom don’t drink, and after enjoying themselves on Sunday, they’d have still spent the week eating right, conditioning their bodies, and taking care of themselves. The idea that they won’t be motivated is also incorrect. While the title is no longer on the line, they have professional pride on the line and wouldn’t want to lose against Chelsea, a big club and one that they’d consider a rival.

The reality is that Liverpool comes into this more well-rested than Chelsea, as well as being a far superior team. Liverpool are missing none of their best starting lineup to injury, and there’s no reason why Arne Slot wouldn’t play his best players in this game. Liverpool have lost just twice in the Premier League all season, and they have been by far the best team this campaign. A big part of that has been consistency, and it’s crazy to think that they won’t approach this game as seriously as others. They’ve outscored every other team in the league, have the second-best defensive record, and entered the weekend a huge 15 points ahead of second-placed Arsenal. You don’t often get Liverpool at prices this big, and it’s well worth backing them here.

Chelsea vs Liverpool same-game parlay (SGP)

Liverpool to win by 2+ goals

Mo Salah to score

In addition to our best bet, we’re not just backing Liverpool to win, we’re backing them to win by two or more goals. Yes, Chelsea have more to play for, but this Liverpool team won’t just turn up and roll over. You’re looking at a team who have scored more goals than anyone else in the Premier League this season, and a staggering 21 more goals than this opposition. Not only that, but they’ve conceded the second-fewest amount of goals, less than one per game.

The final leg of our SGP has Mohamed Salah scoring. Salah ended his scoring dry spell with a goal against Tottenham last Sunday as Liverpool won the Premier League, and he has a great chance to score again here. If you’re worried about players having celebrated a little too hard, then you don’t need to worry with Salah, given that he doesn’t drink alcohol. He leads the league’s goalscoring charts with 28 goals in 34 games and scored when these teams met earlier in the season.
