My analysis
For the longest time this season, there was serious pressure on Mauricio Pochettino at Chelsea. He was struggling to get his expensively assembled team to play well, partly because of the number of injuries Chelsea had and partly due to bedding in a number of the new signings.
Now Chelsea come into this having won their previous three games in a row. In fact, their form has been so good they’ve lost just once in the past 13 Premier League games.
That’s in stark contrast to Brighton who have won just once in their past eight Premier League games. Roberto De Zerbi’s team has limped over the line this season, and in truth, it's looked very poor at times.
Defensively Brighton are weaker, with 58 goals allowed compared to just 53 last season and 44 the season before, despite having two games remaining. They’ve also scored 18 fewer goals than last year, which probably highlights how poor they’ve been in front of goal with their top scorer, Joao Pedro, yet to crack double-digit goals.
Brighton come into this in poor form and face a Chelsea team who appear motivated to finish the season well and end things on a high.
Brighton really have nothing to play for here, and given Chelsea have scored at least two goals in 10 of their past 11 Premier League goals, we should see another strong performances from Pochettino’s team.
