With Austin resting players over the weekend while Nashville ran out its starters before traveling, the advantage could tilt Los Verdes' way again — especially with the heat at kickoff.

Austin FC vs Nashville SC picks and predictions

My Austin FC vs Nashville SC best bet: Austin FC moneyline (+160 at Sports Interaction)

It’s been a while since the fans of Austin FC have left the Q2 Stadium having seen their side lose. You’ve gotta go back to May 3 to find the last instance, a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Minnesota United.

That’s 11 matches unbeaten for the Texas side, seven of which have resulted in victories. That’s bad news for the visitors, given their struggles on the road lately.

Nashville currently sits sixth in the Eastern Conference, squarely in a playoff position. But while they’ve been outstanding at home, they’ve managed just 17 points from 16 away matches in the league.

What makes it worse is they’ve not gained a single one of those points in the last six road trips. You have to go back to late June to find their last road result, when they narrowly defeated DC United—the worst team in the East—by a 1-0 margin.

Austin’s defense is very tough, having allowed just 13 home goals in 15 MLS matches. Brad Stuver ranks second in the league in saves, backed by a defense that makes life tough on opponents. They will let Nashville have the ball and hit them on the counter, where they’ve been vulnerable.

Recently, it’s been late goals that have undone Nashville, allowing stoppage-time winners to both Nashville and Cincinnati. That’s exactly how Austin defeated Seattle in their last home match, and it’s how Austin beat Minnesota in the final seconds of extra time in the semi-final.

A price of +160 is too good to pass up, and I’ll back Austin for more late-match heroics as they lift their first trophy as a club.

Nashville has too much attacking power to be held scoreless for the whole match. Therefore, it only makes sense to back Austin to score multiple goals if we’re taking them to win. In addition, Nashville has conceded multiple goals in six of their last eight away matches.

Finals tend to be cagey in the opening stages, and only one of Austin’s last five matches have seen a goal scored inside the first half hour. We’ll back a scoreless opening quarter in this one.
