I made some nice cash last year on RA for HOY. -120. Blame -140 is an absolute lock. If you Sports Book allows it, lay as much as possible on Blame. There are few sure things in racing, but this is one.

Zenyatta is +120, but has no shot. Well, only if Blame's post race test comes up positive with a banned substance.
Rachel was even money with Z after last years classic. I locked it in for a killing. Same with Blame. Its free cash.

disagree....zenyatta's popularity and the fact that she shoulda been horse of the year in 09 will be a factor in the voting. everyone, including the voters could see that zenyatta was a better horse in the classic. yes, blame won, but everyone knows the best horse doesnt win races all the time. blames second race back, he couldnt make up any ground on haynesfield who is a grade 3 type horse......zenyatta runs thoses types down allday long. shes clearly the best horse in north america. ill take +120 on her odds all day long. if it was such a sure thing for blame to get the award then why is there even a line for it or why isnt she -1200?

Dude, you are living in a fantasy world. We all love Zenyatta and that was a hell of a race she ran last week, but Blame is winning HOY. No doubt. There is a line because of suckers like you.
Z won the Classic last year and wasn't HOY. Its the best horse all year and that was Blame.

    Let me get this straight.

It's down to 2 horses, one is -140 to win it and the other is +120? Then the value bet would be +120 so it's a no-brainer for me!

I don't know the answer to this but what is the total record of each steed for the year and what are the records in Grade 1 races only? Regardless though, I would lean to the +120.

RA won it last year because she raced in more open company races and won....Zen raced a conservative 2009 and 2010.....

Racing solely on your home track< on your home surface against Females, outside the BC does not make her the HOY, because she was undefeated....if she ran at least 3 races against open competition in 2009, like RA and won i would definitely argue her not winning the 2009 HOY....

Rachel raced on all track listings (sloppy and fast) against open competition and won....she was dominant in 2009.......she deserved the 2009 HOY without a doubt.....

Blame Zen owners for not getting HOY in 2009 and 10 they were more concerned with her record.....

Roused, I don't want to try to talk you off your pick.  But to say it's a sure thing is misleading to everyone.  Sure there are quite a lot of reasons to bet on Blame, but there are also quite a few reasons to bet on Zenyatta.  I'll just cover these angles for Zenyatta.  Unlike last year, Blame hasn't brought out the passion that Rachel Alexandra did.  The east coast (where most of the votes will come from) isn't attached to Blame.  A few east coast writers who voted against Zenyatta last year have already said they will vote for Zenyatta this year.  Pricci even stated that he's voting for Zenyatta EVEN BEFORE THE BC CLASSIC, AND EVEN IF SHE LOSES THE CLASSIC.  The media coverage of Zenyatta has surpassed Secretariat's .  Zenyatta is the most popular horse in horse racing history.

Go ahead and make your bet, Roused, but to others, consider.

So Sacstar, if you had a vote who would you cast it for ? Yes, if it was a beauty pageant, Z wins for sure, but on the track Blame had a better year and beat Z straight up.
Take away the name Zenyatta and make it Ghost machine and make her a male and this conversation wouldn't even be taking place, right ?

i respect your opinion but your way off here. blame didnt have that good of a year if you really analize it. 1st race a pimlico he bet nobody with a dream trip, then in the stephen foster he ran down a speed horse that came back injured after the race, he ran a very good race in the woodward but quality road looks like he's been overatted, jockey club he couldnt run down haynesfield thats new york bred stakes horse, and then in the classic he ran very well and won but was obvious to all that he wasnt the best horse in that race. zenyatta has the same thing against her but she obviously was better then blame in the classic and is going to get votes. its really up in the air as to who is going to win.....to say blame is a lock is just moronic.

I never knew a horse that was 19-1, or was the all time money winning mare or the winner or 2 Breeders cup races with a close second place finish in a 3rd was a "Beauty Queen" horse.

No, she is an amazing animal and I hate to see her retire, but she didn't beat much this year. Also, if it were say an All Star Game, she would win, but the writers vote and they have an East Coast and Dirt bias. Again, I will bet everything I have that Blame wins it. Most books are maxed at $100 because its not a event, but a vote. I will lay 1/3 to any of you. Its a lock.

She demolished Quality Road, Haynesfield, Lookin At Lucky.  I'd say those horses were pretty good.
