Jason Robertson has piled up the shots this season, sitting third behind the two Hart Trophy frontrunners in Nathan MacKinnon and Connor McDavid.

My Stars vs. Kings predictions expect the volume to be there against a Los Angeles team giving up a surprising amount of shots to forwards.

Let’s dive into my NHL picks for Monday, January 12.

Stars vs Kings prediction

Stars vs Kings best bet: Jason Robertson Over 2.5 shots on goal (-140)

Jason Robertson is in a contract year, and he’s certainly playing like somebody ready to cash in.

Robertson is scoring at just under a 50-goal pace and shooting the lights out on a nightly basis. He is averaging 3.7 shots per game and has cleared this total at a remarkable 69% clip.

Many stars — no pun intended — see their volume dip on the road. That is not the case with Robertson. In fact, his hit rate jumps to 75% in away games, and his volume spikes to exactly four shots per night.

With the Dallas Stars playing Robertson and Mikko Rantanen on separate lines, he just doesn’t get the full attention most top players do. That has clearly proven beneficial.

The Los Angeles Kings don’t have the personnel to slow Robertson down even if they wanted to put all their eggs in that basket.

They recently traded Phillip Danault, one of the better checking centers in the NHL, while perennial Selke candidate Anze Kopitar is also sidelined with an injury. That takes a good chunk of defensive acumen out of their lineup.

Los Angeles has struggled to slow Robertson down at the best of times. He has averaged 3.5 shots per game over the last 11 head-to-head meetings, going Over 2.5 shots seven times.

Look for his success to continue Monday night.

Stars vs Kings same-game parlay

Miro Heiskanen is quietly having a monster year in Dallas, pacing for 53 assists.

He never seems to leave the ice at 5-on-5 and quarterbacks a power play featuring snipers like Robertson, Rantanen, and Wyatt Johnston, giving him ample opportunity to help facilitate goals.

Kevin Fiala is being centered by Alex Turcotte with Danault out of the picture and Kopitar sidelined. That has done wonders for his shot volume, with Fiala recording 3+ shots in seven of nine games — including against the Stars, Avalanche, Wild (x2), and Lightning.

He has generated shots consistently even vs. top teams.
