We’ve got a few one-sided matchups during today’s four-game slate with the St. Louis Blues and Carolina Hurricanes skating into Sunday as sizable favorites over their opponents according to the NHL odds.

Find out why I like Jake Guentzel of the Hurricanes and Robert Thomas of the Blues in the NHL player props in my free NHL picks for Sunday, April 14.

Today’s NHL prop picks and best bets

Prop bet #1: Guentzel gives Hawks a headache

Jake Guentzel has been on a tear since he joined the Carolina Hurricanes ahead of the trade deadline, posting 24 points in 16 games with his new club, ranking eighth in the NHL over that span.

While Guentzel has mostly been a playmaker in his first month with Carolina, he’s scored six of his eight goals with the club in his last five contests and I like him to stay hot with another tally against the lowly Chicago Blackhawks tonight.

The Canes forward has found the back of the net in four of his last five outings, potting multiple goals in two of those games. Guentzel has been firing the puck at a solid rate, averaging just over three shots per game in April while converting on 37.5% of his attempts.

That number obviously isn’t sustainable, but I like his chances to pot another vs. a Chicago squad that’s allowed 14 goals in its last three games while giving up 3.51 gpg this season — the fourth-worst mark in the league.

Jake Guentzel prop: Anytime goal (+125 at Bet99)

Prop bet #2: No doubting Thomas

While the St. Louis Blues’ season is coming to a disappointing end as they’re set to miss the playoffs, Robert Thomas continues to be a bright spot for the club.

The center leads the Blues with 85 points this season — nearly 20 more than his next-closest teammate — and will look to close out the campaign on a high note as he’s posted four straight multi-point games entering play today.

Thomas has quietly evolved into one of the premier playmakers in the NHL as he’s one of just 16 players with at least 60 assists this season. He skates into Sunday on a five-game assist streak with nine helpers over that span and he shouldn’t have much trouble picking up another against the Seattle Kraken, who have sputtered to the finish line with just five wins in their last 17 outings.

Thomas and the Blues, who opened as the home favorite at -145, should also be the fresher team as they had Saturday off while the Kraken will be less than 24 hours removed from a loss to the Stars.

Robert Thomas prop: Over 0.5 assists (-120 at Bet99)

Prop bet #3: Cruising Kuzmenko

This is probably the least appetizing game of today’s slate but it’s hard to ignore how good Andrei Kuzmenko has been for the Calgary Flames down the stretch. The winger has recorded eight tallies in his last eight games — that’s 38% of his goal production on the season in the past two weeks.

Kuzmenko has undoubtedly stepped into a bigger offensive role since being traded to the Flames from the Canucks earlier this season as he’s now playing on the club’s top line alongside Nazem Kadri.

The Flames forward has seen his shot rate climb from 1.47 per game with Vancouver to 1.96 per game with Calgary, and that number is up to 2.63 during his eight-game hot streak.

Kuzmenko, who’s fresh off a hat trick vs the Ducks on Friday, should have a good shot at potting another goal against the Arizona Coyotes, who have given up 3.75 gpg over their last eight contests.

Andrei Kuzmenko prop: Anytime goal (+215 at Bet99)
