Mikhail Sergachev has been a shooting machine at home, clearing his line in 16 of the last 17 in Utah.

Now facing a high-event Columbus Blue Jackets team that bleeds shots, Sergachev is a priority target with my three NHL player props for Sunday, January 11.

Our best NHL player props for Sunday, January 11

Take a look at our best bets and expert analysis below.

Prop #1: Luke Hughes Over 1.5 shots on goal

-150 at BET99

The New Jersey Devils are back to full health on defense and, surprisingly, $9 million man Dougie Hamilton finds himself the odd man out. That bodes well for Luke Hughes.

He has absolutely feasted in games without Hamilton in the lineup this season, piling up the shots while serving as the clear cut No. 1 offensive defenseman on the team.

Hughes has averaged more than 27 minutes of ice time and nine shot attempts through four games without Hamilton this season.

He generated at least four shots on goal in three of those contests while clearing this line in each of them.

There’s also a big rest factor working in his favor. Hughes has registered multiple shots in all eight games this season following two days off, averaging seven shot attempts over that span.

Prop #2: Mikhail Sergachev Over 1.5 shots on goal

-155 at BET99

Nothing is automatic in sports, but Mikhail Sergachev recording a couple of shots on home soil is the closest thing to it.

Sergachev is averaging 2.7 shots per game on 5.4 attempts in Utah this season. He has gone Over this total in 16 of the last 17 at home, only falling short against the back-to-back Stanley Cup champions.

Sergachev has attempted at least four shots in 17 straight home dates. Regardless of the location, he’s gone Over in 26 of 30 games this season when reaching that benchmark.

This is not a matchup where Sergachev’s volume should slow. The Jackets have allowed just under 31 shots per game this season and are 20th in shots allowed to blueliners.

Prop #3: Ryan Leonard Over 0.5 points

-125 at BET99

The Capitals are missing one of their best forwards in Tom Wilson. That is leading to more opportunities for Ryan Leonard — and he’s taking full advantage.

Leonard has four points over three games since Wilson left the lineup. Including the game Wilson missed before the holiday break in December, he has six points over four games sans Wilson. Pretty good!

Leonard is currently skating on a line with Connor McMichael and Justin Sourdif. He has 13 points over his last 13 with McMichael, and Sourdif is as hot as almost anybody, totaling 10 points in his past six games.

Important to note, Leonard has also claimed a spot on the top power play in Wilson’s place. That gives him exposure to Alex Ovechkin, Dylan Strome, and Jakob Chychrun, the team’s most notable weapons.

With Justus Annunen, who owns an .878 SV% this season, between the pipes, Leonard and the Capitals should make noise offensively.
