The Florida Panthers and Boston Bruins face off for the first time this season after the Cats upset the B's in the first round of the playoffs.

This should be a great NHL odds matchup after Florida overcame a 3-1 deficit to take down one of the best regular-season teams in history.

The Bruins won their first six games of the season before losing to Anaheim in overtime and are now 7-0-1. The Panthers have won four of their last five games since starting the season with two losses.

Boston Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery said that he hadn’t thought about the rematch yet after Saturday’s win.

"I haven't thought about it yet,” he said, “but I'm sure on Monday the guys that are returning will want to have a good hockey game.”

The Bruins are picking up where they left off last regular season as they still haven't dropped a game in regulation. They have the 10th-best xGF% in the league at 53.29% through their first nine games. 

Boston's dominance is through its defense. Despite centers Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci retiring, the B's have allowed just 12 goals in eight games. Only the Ducks have scored more than two goals against them.

Charlie McAvoy has been particularly impressive.

"I thought he started the year off well and now I think he's just dominating," Montgomery said of the top defenseman.

The Florida Panthers may be hot right now but three of their four wins have come on home ice. They're just 1-2-0 on the road, which isn't unusual for Florida. Head coach Paul Maurice admitted as much.

"The road can be a real grind for us, so home has to be a good place for us," he said. "A big chunk of that is believing you are a good home team."

On the other side, the Bruins have been one of the best home teams in recent memory. They're 3-0-1 this year after finishing last regular season 34-4-3 at TD Garden a year ago.

Expect Boston to keep up that home dominance against the Panthers tonight.

The Bruins have been the better team this season, have a huge home-ice advantage, and are looking for revenge after last year’s early exit.

Boston has gone to overtime just once this season for its lone loss. Florida has yet to play past regulation in its first seven games.

We’re going to start the parlay off with the Bruins on the 3-way moneyline — or to win in regulation if you prefer.

The Bruins have also been quite the Under team so far this season. They've gone Under the total in six of their first eight games, and one of those Overs came when there were six goals with a 5.5 total.

It's also worth noting that the Panthers haven't scored more than three goals in a game in any of their last four contests. In fact, they've hit their season high of four just twice.

The total for this game is at 6.5, so we’ll add the Under 6.5 along with the Bruins to win in regulation. 

To round out the parlay, we’re going to add in a David Pastrnak goal. The Bruins superstar already has eight goals in as many games this season. He scored twice on Saturday against Detroit and once in the overtime loss to Anaheim. 

Pasta has now scored in six of eight games this season after tallying a goal in 47 of 82 last season. That's a goal in 53 of his last 90 regular-season games — a fitting 58.88% clip.

The Bruins opened as high as -182 on Kambi books but are now in line with most of the board at -165. Meanwhile, the Panthers have moved from +148 underdogs to +135.

While the odds of -182 would be a bit too high for me to take the Bruins, anything around -170 or lower would be fine. If you’re opposed to betting too much juice, I don’t mind the 3-way ML play outlined in the SGP.

The total opened at 6 nearly across the board with a 6.5 hanging here and there. The Over is heavily favored between -115 and -125, though, so it could reach 6.5 sometime on Monday.

I like the Under 6, especially at +105 or better. The Bruins have been able to keep teams in check while skating to low-scoring victories in most of their games this season.
