The Edmonton Oilers return home after taking Game 2 to even up the Western Conference Final against the Dallas Stars.

After a 6-3 comeback win by Dallas in Game 1, the Oilers kept the Stars off the board in another shutout by Stuart Skinner.

The goalscoring may pick up as the series shifts to Edmonton on Sunday afternoon. Let’s get right into my Stars vs. Oilers anytime goalscorer predictions and NHL picks for Game 3 on Sunday, May 25.

NHL anytime goalscorer picks for Stars vs Oilers Game 3

  • Oilers McDavid (+140)
  • Stars Johnston (+240)
  • Oilers Kane (+340)

Stars vs Oilers anytime goalscorer props for today

Connor McDavid anytime goalscorer (+140 at BET99)

Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid has yet to score a goal in this series, but it hasn’t been for a lack of trying.

McDavid leads the Oilers with eight shots on goal and is tied for the team lead with Leon Draisaitl and Zach Hyman with four high-danger scoring chances created.

He has also hit a post or two, which doesn’t factor in to the shots on goal total, but does show up in his 13 shot attempts through two games.

The Oilers superstar has three assists in two games with four SOG in each contest.

Looking back at last year’s Western Conference Final, McDavid had two points (one goal, one assist) in Game 1 before being held off the scoresheet in Game 2. However, he put up another goal and assist in Game 3 with the series shifting to Edmonton.

All in all, McDavid finished the six-game series with three goals and seven assists against the Stars last year. He’s tracking to have a similar output this time around, especially if he’s able to find the back of the net a time or two.

Wyatt Johnston anytime goalscorer (+240 at BET99)

Dallas Stars forward Wyatt Johnston has struggled a bit in these playoffs. After putting up seven points in as many games against the Avalanche, he has just one goal — in Game 3 against Winnipeg — in his last eight contests.

The big news for the Stars between Games 2 and 3 is the health of Roope Hintz. The Stars’ top-line center was slashed on the left foot by Darnell Nurse and did not put any weight on it as he was helped off the ice. Johnston took his spot on the top line, and Pete DeBoer will likely turn to Wyatt again if Hintz is unable to go.

Johnston only has four shots on goal through two games, but three of them came in Game 2. He now has 11 shot attempts, seven scoring chances, and is tied for the team lead with three high-danger chances in the series.

The centerman is also a part of the top power-play unit and could connect there, given the Oilers’ paltry penalty kill in these playoffs. Finally, Johnston had three goals in last year’s series against the Oilers, including in Games 3 and 4 in Edmonton.

Evander Kane anytime goalscorer (+340 at BET99)

Evander Kane wasn’t very visible in Game 1 with no shots on goal, but he got back to it in Game 2 with three shots on goal on five total attempts. It’s worth noting he also had five attempts in Game 1 but just couldn’t hit the net.

Kane plays on the Oilers’ third line as a key cog to their depth. He had two goals in each of Edmonton’s first two series, with one tally on the road and one at home.

The Oilers winger is the type of power forward who can get in front and make his presence felt. Jake Oettinger didn’t exactly look great last game with three goals against and a few more pucks that bounced his way. I’ll take Kane to score at this nice price on Sunday afternoon.
