The Carolina Hurricanes came up short in Game 1 against the Florida Panthers and must find a way to win on home ice to avoid going down 2-0 in this series against the defending Stanley Cup Champions.
As Florida showed us in Game 1, it won't be easy, but with how good this team has been, you have to think they will respond well. Two players on Carolina highlight my favorite NHL picks regarding the goalscoring market for May 22.
NHL anytime goalscorer picks for Panthers vs Hurricanes Game 2
-
Marchand (+340)
-
Stankoven (+400)
-
Gostisbehere (+625)
Panthers vs Hurricanes anytime goalscorer props for tonight
Brad Marchand (+340 at Sports Interaction)
Brad Marchand couldn't put up any points in Game 1, but he found another way to be talked about in that game — even if it wasn't necessarily his fault. Marchand fought Shayne Gostisbehere after the defenseman appeared to hit him with a puck on purpose.
Marchand was sent to the locker room and wouldn't return to the game, so you have to imagine he'll come out tonight with a massive chip on his shoulder for some revenge, not just physically, but also on the scoreboard.
Marchand is second on the team in points in the postseason with three goals and nine assists in 13 games. Three goals might not sound like a whole lot, but the impact he's made thus far has been immeasurable, and his line has arguably been the best line not only for their team, but in the entire playoffs.
Marchand, Eetu Luostarinen, and Anton Lundell remain key contributors, and "The Rat" will be rewarded with a goal tonight.
Logan Stankoven (+400 at Sports Interaction)
Logan Stankoven has been a little too quiet as of late, and if the Hurricanes are going to knot this series at one apiece, Stankoven needs to step up.
He centers a line with Jack Roslovic and Taylor Hall, who were solid through the first two rounds. Stankoven has three goals and two assists through 11 games this postseason, but he only has one point in his last five. Simply put, he has not been close to as good as they need him to be regarding offensive production.
That said, Stankoven can step up and make some plays. He and his linemates have been held off the scoresheet for two straight games, and I don't see that happening three games in a row because of how good they were to start the postseason.
It's time for Stankoven to step up.
Shayne Gostisbehere (+625 at Sports Interaction)
Just like Brad Marchand, Shayne Gostisbehere will come into this contest a little extra fired up after what took place in Game 1.
Offensively speaking, Gostisbehere has had a strong postseason. He's tallied three goals and five assists in 11 games and is the quarterback of the Canes' first unit, which needs to be successful if they're going to get through the Panthers.
Gostisbehere has recorded a point in four of his last five games and has goals in two of those five contests. Getting him at +625 after fighting Marchand makes the juice slightly more attractive.
He needs to fire some more pucks on goal in Game 2 after only one shot in each of the last four games. One of his shots will get through Sergei Bobrovsky tonight.
