Raiders vs Colts Predictions - Early Picks & Odds for Week 5

The Colts are in a great bounce-back spot against a flimsy Raiders team, and we like Indianapolis to cover the spread as the game total ticks way up.

Two teams coming off close late losses will be looking to get a big win to boost their season on Sunday, October 5, when the 1-3 Las Vegas Raiders travel to Lucas Oil Stadium to take on the 3-1 Indianapolis Colts.

My early Raiders vs. Colts predictions and NFL picks expect the Colts to bounce back and get a big win with lots of offense.

Raiders vs Colts predictions

Here are our early thoughts on the spread and total for this week’s game. We will have a full game preview (with a best bet and SGP) later in the week.

Early Raiders vs Colts spread pick: Colts -7

Since the Las Vegas Raiders won their Week 1 game against the New England Patriots with some great defense, they have been bludgeoned by opposing offenses and struggled with turnovers. They now rank 22nd in the NFL in points allowed and 20th in yards allowed.

The Indianapolis Colts offense faced its first bit of adversity last week against the Los Angeles Rams, turning the ball over three times and getting held to 20 points. However, they still racked up 333 total yards and had two touchdowns taken off the board with self-inflicted mistakes.

That was a tough game against a very good team, and they still could have come away with a road win. When they have faced bad teams this season, they have completely dominated from start to finish, defeating the Miami Dolphins 33-8 and the Tennessee Titans 41-20.

I expect the offense to limit its mistakes against the Raiders this week, and the Colts should win the turnover battle against the NFL’s leading interception thrower.

Early Raiders vs Colts total pick: Over 47.5

The Colts have scored 33 and 41 points against below-average defenses and will dominate again here with a similar output.

On the other end, the Raiders will have issues with turnovers, but they also have a huge advantage in the run game. While the Colts didn’t give up a huge rushing number against the Rams, they did allow a lot of yards per carry.

Kyren Williams had 77 yards on only 13 totes, for 5.9 yards per carry, and the Colts have allowed 4.5 yards per carry overall – ranking 21st in the NFL. Ashton Jeanty will be used heavily, and we can expect a couple of big gains.

Jeanty is averaging 4.1 yards per attempt on the season, but he really broke out last week with a 6.6 yards per carry average. I don’t think the 21-year-old will see a massive volume because of the score line, but he will help move the ball to put up points and contribute to the Over.
