The Giants are not a good football team, but the spot may suit them. Our NFL expert believes the G-Men can capitalize on a jet-lagged Texans side and stay inside the number.

C.J. Stroud and the Texans return to the United States on a two-game winning streak, hosting the Giants as 9.5-point favorites in Week 7 at Reliant Stadium in Houston.

My early Giants vs. Texans prediction and NFL picks have Houston struggling with the effects of international travel this weekend, making New York a potentially live underdog.

Early Giants vs Texans spread pick: Giants +9.5

Playable to 50%.

The Houston Texans defeated the Jaguars in Week 6 on a game-winning field goal as time expired, but the final result doesn't tell the whole story of a competitive game. Houston won despite recording one fewer first down than Jacksonville and gaining just 14 more yards of total offense. Now, the Texans face the unenviable task of a transatlantic flight back to Texas for a Week 7 game without the benefit of a bye to recover from the demanding travel schedule.

Meanwhile, the New York Giants lost 34-27 at home to the Saints this past Sunday but recorded five more first downs than their opponent and 142 more yards of total offense.

At one point during the 2026 NFL season, 16 of 18 teams returning from an international game without a bye had been tied or trailing in the fourth quarter of their next contest. It's difficult for even the most talented teams to perform well following international travel. Head coach Jim Harbaugh hasn't announced a starting quarterback for this weekend yet, but Jameis Winston and J.J. McCarthy both give New York a chance to remain competitive against a potentially fatigued Houston roster.

Early Giants vs Texans total pick: Under 42.5

Playable to 51%.

The Texans scored 34 points against the Jaguars, but this isn't an offense that has performed at a high level early in 2026. Entering Week 6, Houston's offense ranked 20th in my schedule-adjusted success rate ratings. The Giants have been even less impressive offensively, ranking 30th in schedule-adjusted success rate.

The defenses have been a different story, however. Even after a poor showing in London this past weekend, the Texans' defense ranks 10th in success rate allowed. The Giants rank a respectable 20th in defensive success rate despite already facing Dak Prescott, Matthew Stafford, and Jayden Daniels this season.

New York's secondary should also be healthier in Week 7 than it has been in recent weeks. If the Giants can get cornerback Colton Hood or safety Tyler Nubin back this weekend, it would go a long way toward keeping this game relatively low-scoring.
