Geno Smith and the Jets will create enough offense to cover against the winless, hapless Dolphins.

The New York Jets are priced as a 4.5-point favorite ahead of this Week 7 tilt against the Miami Dolphins, with kickoff from MetLife Stadium at 1 p.m. ET.

Miami remains winless and has looked horrendous, and I'm confidently backing New York in my Dolphins vs Jets predictions.

Early Dolphins vs Jets spread pick: Jets -4.5

Play up to 56%.

The Miami Dolphins are 0-5 and rank 31st in scoring (14.0 points per game), 28th in total offense, and 31st in passing yards. They've been dreadful offensively, and the New York Jets' seventh-ranked scoring defense (20.3 PPG allowed) should keep them contained.

New York's offense isn't electric, but Miami's secondary offers a favorable passing matchup. The Dolphins have allowed a 76.6% completion rate and 11 passing TDs while generating just four sacks through five games.

Geno Smith has thrown seven touchdowns against one interception this season, while Omar Cooper Jr. provides another weapon after erupting for 103 receiving yards against New England.

With Miami struggling to generate pressure, Smith should find enough openings to help New York cover.

Early Dolphins vs Jets total pick: Under 38.5

Play up to 55%.

I'm backing the Under because neither offense is scoring consistently. New York averages 18.7 PPG (27th), while Miami has scored 13 or fewer in four of five games.

The Jets could exploit Miami's defensive weaknesses, but finishing drives remains an issue. New York went 0-for-3 in the red zone against New England last week, settling for field goals despite moving the ball.

Miami ranks 31st in passing offense and now faces a Jets defense allowing just 185 passing yards per game, the fourth-fewest in the league.

With the Dolphins struggling to generate offense and New York having trouble converting scoring opportunities into touchdowns, I expect this divisional matchup to stay below 38.5.
