Here are our early thoughts on the spread and total for this week’s game. We will have a full game preview (with a best bet and SGP) later in the week.
Early Broncos vs Texans spread pick: Broncos -1.5
After opening their season with a win over the lowly Titans, the Denver Broncos suffered a 29-28 loss in Indianapolis and a 23-20 road loss to the Chargers.
Denver led in the second half of both of those contests but failed to close it out. Since then, the Broncos have gone undefeated.
The Houston Texans’ win on Sunday was their first impressive victory of the season. Previously, they shut out the Titans and beat Baltimore’s backups on the road.
The Broncos' offense woke up in the fourth quarter against the Giants and hasn't stopped scoring since. Houston's defense is a major upgrade from Dallas, but it doesn't look like anyone can slow down Denver at the moment.
The spread is small, but I expect the Broncos to eek out a win, with their defense shutting down a Texans' offense that has shown little bite so far.
Early Broncos vs Texans total pick: Under 39.5
We have a low total between the Broncos and Texans, but it may not be low enough. These are two of the more profitable Under teams this season, with the under doing 5-3 in Denver’s games and 4-2-1 in Houston’s.
Both offenses are coming off high-scoring games on Sunday, but that was against Dallas and San Francisco.
Houston has also battled it out in a handful of low-scoring games to begin the year before things opened up in recent weeks.
I expect a lower-scoring game like the ones Denver had in Philadelphia (21-17) or against the Jets (13-11) in its last two road contests.
