The Buffalo Bills delivered the most exciting comeback of Week 1, taking down the Baltimore Ravens in the final seconds of Sunday Night Football.
Conversely, the New York Jets lost a heartbreaker in a shootout with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Bills and Jets clash at MetLife Stadium in Week 2 in an AFC East showdown.
Here are my top Bills vs. Jets predictions and NFL picks on Sunday, September 14.
Bills vs Jets props
- Fields o43.5 rushing yards (-114 at FanDuel)
- Wilson o5.5 receptions (+104 at FanDuel)
- Coleman o3.5 receptions (+102 at FanDuel)
Prop bet #1: Justin Fields Over 43.5 rushing yards
Justin Fields had a solid New York Jets debut in Week 1, going toe-to-toe with Aaron Rodgers and leading the Jets to a surprising 32 points. He rushed for 48 yards on 12 attempts in Week 1, adding two rushing touchdowns to the mix.
Fields has been a strong scrambling quarterback throughout his career, averaging 54.8 rushing yards across 45 starts. He has 28 career games with at least 44 yards rushing, and he’ll take on a Bills defense that just surrendered 238 rush yards - including 70 to Lamar Jackson - to Baltimore in Week 1.
Fields isn’t in the same class as Jackson, but he’s far above average as a rusher at his position. The Buffalo Bills' defense is dealing with multiple injuries, including the absence of starting defensive tackle Ed Oliver. Look for Fields to rack up yards with his legs in this one.
Prop bet #2: Garrett Wilson Over 5.5 receptions
Garrett Wilson’s receiving yards line is set at 62.5, and I like that wager just fine, but we can get juicier odds on his receptions line, and I expect him to see plenty of looks from Fields.
Fields threw the ball only 21 times in Week 1, but nine of those looks went to Wilson, who secured seven of them for 95 yards and Fields’ lone passing touchdown. Baltimore passed for 209 yards against Buffalo’s secondary last week, and No. 1 wideout Zay Flowers went for 7/143 on nine targets.
Wilson is the unquestioned top dog in New York’s passing attack, lining up alongside arguably the worst receiving corps in the league aside from him. Wilson should easily clear this reception line as Fields looks to him early and often.
Prop bet #3: Keon Coleman Over 3.5 receptions
Keon Coleman broke out in a big way in Week 1, leading Buffalo in targets (11), receptions (8), and receiving yards (112). He came away with a key touchdown late in the fourth quarter on a tipped pass and has surely earned Josh Allen’s trust after the monstrous showing.
The matchup with New York presents a tough one-on-one assignment from shutdown corner Sauce Gardner, who may shadow Coleman in this matchup. For this reason, I’m taking Coleman’s receptions line rather than his yards.
Buffalo may have to get creative to get the ball in Coleman’s hands, but Allen should be slinging it against a Jets defense that allowed four passing touchdowns but just 53 rushing yards on 20 carries to the Steelers in Week 1.
