One of the biggest storylines in the first week of the NFL season was Justin Fields torching a tough Steelers defense in his Jets debut.

Fields had an instant rapport with former Ohio State teammate Garrett Wilson and my NFL picks are backing the speedy wideout to have another big game against a vulnerable Bills secondary this week.

Here are my five best NFL player props for Week 2.

NFL Week 2 prop picks

  • Lions Gibbs Over 67.5 rushing yards (-114 )
  • Jets Wilson Over 59.5 receiving yards (-114 )
  • Patriots Maye Over 214.5 passing yards (-114 )
  • Panthers Hubbard Over 65.5 rushing yards (-114 )
  • Falcons London Over 71.5 receiving yards (-114 )

Best Bets and NFL Player Props for Week 2

Prop pick: Jahmyr Gibbs Over 67.5 Rushing Yards

-114 at FanDuel

This is a buy-low spot for Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs who was limited to 19 yards on nine carries in a lopsided loss in Green Bay last week.

Gibbs was fifth in the NFL in rushing yards (1,412) last year and has rushed for 68+ yards in 13 of his last 18 games. That includes a pair of clashes against the Chicago Bears where he rushed for 109 and 87 yards.

The Bears struggled against the run in Week 1, surrendering 120 yards on 26 carries to the Vikings. They are 22nd in the league in run defense grade per PFF, while ranking 28th in tackle grade.

They could also be missing a pair of key defenders with DT Grady Jarrett sidelined in practice and linebacker T.J. Edwards limited after sitting out MNF with a groin injury.

Prop pick: Garrett Wilson Over 59.5 Receiving Yards

-114 at FanDuel

Garrett Wilson had an instant rapport last week with former Ohio State teammate and new Jets pivot Justin Fields.

Wilson hauled in seven of nine targets for 95 yards against the Steelers and his analytics at PFF were even more impressive. He led all receivers in yards per route run (3.80) and passer rating when targeted (155.7), while his separation percentage of 75%  was the second-highest among all receivers with at least six targets.

The 10th pick overall in the 2022 draft, Wilson has hit the 1,000-yard plateau in each of his first three seasons but looks poised to reach another level this year. He also has a favorable matchup on Sunday with the New York Jets hosting the Buffalo Bills

Buffalo's pass defense fell apart down the stretch last season, ranking last in the NFL in defensive dropback success rate after Week 9. The Bills were last in the league in defensive dropback EPA last week and they are banged-up at corner with multiple projected starters on the IR.

Prop pick: Drake Maye Over 214.5 Passing Yards

-114 at FanDuel

New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye completed 30-of-46 passes for 287 yards in Week 1. Maye has now passed for at least 220 yards in five of the last seven games that he has started and finished.

Maye was taken with the third pick overall in last year's draft, and he flashed potential despite playing behind a terrible line while surrounded by a weak crop of receivers. The Pats upgraded his supporting cast in the offseason by adding four new starters on the line and signing WR Stefon Diggs.

That will help against a Miami Dolphins squad that has the worst group of corners in the NFL. Miami struggled to generate pressure in Week 1 despite blitzing at the highest rate in the league. That created huge gaps in coverage, which Daniel Jones took advantage of by completing 22-of-29 passes for 272 yards.

The health of WR Kayshon Boutte (limited in practice on Wednesday with a shoulder injury) will be something to monitor, but Maye should eclipse his meager passing yards total regardless.

Prop pick: Chuba Hubbard Over 65.5 Rushing Yards

-114 at FanDuel

Chuba Hubbard had a breakout season with the Carolina Panthers last year, rushing for 1,195 yards on 250 carries. The Canadian running back has rushed for more than 70 yards in eight of his last 14 contests.

Keep in mind that in most of the games where he went below that number, Carolina was playing with a negative game script due to falling behind early.

The Panthers are 6.5-point road dogs against the Arizona Cardinals this week, but I'm expecting a competitive clash which should result in a decent workload for Hubbard.

In Hubbard's final game last season he gashed Arizona for 152 yards on 25 carries. The Cards surrendered 109 rushing yards on 22 carries against the Saints in Week 1 and they rank 29th in the league in run defense grade per PFF.

Prop pick: Drake London Over 71.5 receiving yards

-114  at FanDuel

Drake London led the Atlanta Falcons with 1,271 receiving yards last year and had instant chemistry with rookie Michael Penix Jr. who took over at QB in Week 16. London grabbed seven catches for 106 yards in Week 17 before reeling in 10 of 18 targets for 187 yards in the season finale.

London was limited to 55 receiving yards last week but he saw a whopping 15 targets from Penix so the volume was there. Expect him to have a bounce-back game on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings

Minnesota has a mediocre secondary and was dead-last in the league in coverage grade in Week 1 according to PFF. The Vikes top corner is Byron Murphy Jr. who gives up five inches and 25 pounds to London and allowed a perfect passer rating of 158.3 when targeted last week.
