Lamar Jackson’s health hangs over a bruising AFC North matchup with Cincinnati bringing spread value, and the total could stay grounded.

This AFC North rivalry rarely needs extra fuel, and another physical, tightly contested matchup could be coming Sunday in Baltimore. My Bengals vs. Ravens predictions lean toward Cincinnati catching 2.5 points at M&T Bank Stadium, while Lamar Jackson’s injury status also strengthens the case for a lower-scoring game.

It's all part of our NFL picks for Week 7.

Early Bengals vs Ravens spread pick: Bengals +2.5

Give me the Cincinnati Bengals +2.5, down to a pick 'em, because death, taxes, and underdogs in AFC North games are the only sure things in this world.

Granted, backing the 'dog in this division is almost muscle memory. But the Baltimore Ravens just lost 13-10 at the Cleveland Browns as a 3-point favorite. More importantly, Lamar Jackson has missed two straight contests and remains uncertain after sitting out practice all last week.

We've also seen Lamar struggle when he isn't 100%. Jackson played well in his first game back from injury last season. But during Weeks 10-14 he threw just two touchdown passes with four interceptions while rushing for only 127 yards.

Early Bengals vs Ravens total pick: Under 50.5

I prefer taking Cincinnati against the spread, but the Under on 50.5 is tradable down to 49.5.

If Lamar doesn't play, Baltimore's offense obviously takes a hit, while I'd expect its defense to shoulder more of the burden. Either way, neither offense is in much of a hurry. Cincinnati ranks 22nd in seconds per play, while Baltimore sits 29th.

The Bengals also rank sixth in offensive series conversion rate, according to RBSDM.com, but 25th defensively. Cincinnati is only 20th in offensive red-zone touchdown rate too while ranking fourth defensively.

That creates a path to long, time-consuming possessions that end in field goals instead of touchdowns, which is exactly what I want for an Under.

My prediction: Bengals 26, Ravens 22.
