Against the spread (ATS) pick
South Florida's only win this year came against FCS program The Citadel in their season opener. While getting clobbered by ranked teams like Notre Dame and Cincinnati is somewhat excusable, losing by 20 points at home against East Carolina isn't.
Tulsa is probably happy just to be playing in this contest with four of their games already cancelled due to COVID-19. In the two games the Golden Hurricane have played, they've shown a lot of heart. They lost 16-7 as a 24-point underdogs against a strong Oklahoma State squad in their season opener, then fought back from a 16-0 first-quarter deficit to hand Central Florida their first defeat of the season.
Returning quarterback Zach Smith gives Tulsa a focal point on offense while their defense has shown a ton of improvement. Although Tulsa lost seven defensive starters from last season their replacements have played at a much higher level. Tulsa's underclassmen linebacker trio of Zaven Collins, Justin Wright and Grant Sawyer has already totalled 14 tackles for loss in just two games.
Look for Tulsa to continue overachieving and back them on the spread.

Over/Under pick
We mentioned how well Tulsa's defense has played so far this season. Holding a high-powered OK State offense to 16 points and UCF to 10 points in the last three quarters is an impressive feat, and now they take on a USF offense that's struggling to move the ball.
The Bulls are averaging just 311 yards per game against FBS foes while converting on just 31.2 percent of third downs. Thankfully for South Florida bettors, Tulsa hasn't exactly been explosive on offense either, scoring just seven points against Oklahoma State and being limited to 3.75 yards per carry versus UCF.
The Golden Hurricane have cashed the Under in four of their last five games going back to last year, while the Bulls are 6-3 to the Under in their previous nine contests. Back the Under again on Friday.

First Quarter Bet
South Florida's offense has really struggled this season. Especially in the early going, averaging just 3.5 points per game in the opening quarter.
