The College Football Playoff National Championship odds are officially live, with the No. 1 seed Indiana Hoosiers opening as 7.5-point favorites against the 10th-seeded Miami Hurricanes.
The Natty is (literally) a home game for Miami, but after the Hoosiers throttled Alabama 38-3 in the quarterfinals — and then embarrassed Oregon 56-22 in the semis — oddsmakers had no choice but to put Curt Cignetti's undefeated squad as the heavy favorites.
Here are the opening Miami vs. Indiana odds for the CFP National Championship on January 19, 2026.

Latest CFP National Championship odds: Hoosiers open as big favorites over Hurricanes
The opening spread, which was posted with eight minutes left in the fourth quarter, has Curt Cignetti's squad laying more than a touchdown, sitting at -7.5, with the -320 moneyline price suggesting a 76.19% implied probability of IU capping off an undefeated season.
Both programs possess a dominant defense, which is why the opening total is lower than both semifinal games and seven of the 10 CFP games this year, but the difference is the disparity between the Fernando Mendoza-led IU offense and Miami's attack, which is guided by volatile senior Carson Beck.

Why the opening National Championship odds favor Indiana so much
Not only are the Hoosiers still undefeated and the No. 1 seed, but they've been ruthlessly dominant in their two playoff games, outscoring Alabama and Oregon — two perennial college football powers — by a combined 69 points.
Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza is locked in, with eight touchdown passes against just four incompletions in those two wins, while the defense has forced four turnovers and scored a TD of its own in that span.
Meanwhile, Miami has had a much different path to the Natty: Its berth in the CFP was controversial to begin with, and after surviving a 10-3 slugfest at Texas A&M in the first round, then grinding out another defense battle in a 24-14 win over Ohio State in the quarters, the Hurricanes needed a last-second touchdown to eek past Mississippi in the semifinals.
Defense has been the calling card for the U, but the offense has been erratic game-to-game — even quarter-to-quarter — against teams not nearly as complete as Indiana.
