Ponnaiya's prediction: Fading the Auburn Tigers has been a money-maker lately and the Nevada Wolf Pack give us plenty of reason to keep doing that in the NIT tonight.

The Auburn Tigers host the Nevada Wolf Pack in the NIT quarterfinal on Wednesday.

The Tigers have rarely covered lately and my Nevada vs. Auburn predictions are fading them on the spread tonight.

Here are my best free college basketball picks for this clash on March 25.

Nevada vs Auburn prediction

Who will win Nevada vs Auburn?

Auburn: The Auburn Tigers have a modest 19-16 record but that has come against the seventh-toughest schedule in Division I.

They are more talented than the Nevada Wolf Pack and seem motivated to win after missing out on the NCAA Tournament. They are also at home where they've gone 13-4 and Nevada has lost six straight road games.

Nevada vs Auburn best bet: Nevada +9.5 (-110)

Auburn has been overvalued by Vegas all season and has gone just 2-13 ATS in its last 15 games

Starting forward KeShawn Murphy has opted out of the NIT and the Tigers didn't come close to covering in their first two tournament games. They already had depth issues and the loss of Murphy exacerbates that.

Since the start of January, Auburn ranks 356th in opponent three-point percentage (39.5%) and 266th in opponent free throw rate (38.2%). That provides a path to success for Nevada who shoots 36.2% from deep and gets to the line at the fifth-highest rate in the country.

Covers COVERS INTEL: Auburn ranks 65th in the Bart Torvik Power Rating since the start of February, just 12 spots ahead of Nevada.

Nevada vs Auburn same-game parlay

Since I expect Nevada to exploit Auburn's piss-poor three-point defense and tendency to foul, these player props make sense.

Elijah Price (12.6 ppg) does a great job attacking the rim and ranks 16th in the country in FTA per game (7.6). Price's ability to draw contact should lead to him clearing his points total against an Auburn squad that lacks a rim protector.

Kaleb Lowery had an adjustment period after playing in the NAIA last year, but has earned more playing time lately. He has knocked down a trey in five of his last six games.

Nevada vs Auburn SGP

  • Nevada +9.5
  • Elijah Price Over 11.5 points
  • Kaleb Lowey Over 0.5 threes

Our beyond the arc SGP: Wolf Pack Attack

Let's keep backing the Wolf Pack to have offensive success by taking the Over 3.5 assists for Corey Camper Jr. Nevada's leading scorer has stepped up as a facilitator in the NIT, dropping five dimes in the first game and logging a season-high 10 assists in the second round.

Nevada vs Auburn SGP

  • Nevada +9.5
  • Elijah Price Over 11.5 points
  • Kaleb Lowey Over 0.5 threes
  • Corey Camper Jr. Over 3.5 assists

Nevada vs Auburn odds

  • Spread: Nevada +9.5 | Auburn -9.5
  • Moneyline: Nevada +350 | Auburn -450
  • Over/Under: Over 154.5 | Under 154.5
